You don’t have to participate. Simply say goodbye to those who choose to extend their lives. My guess is you’ll be in line after seeing the horrors of cancer, Alzheimer’s and most other debilitating diseases reduced or outright eliminated. Contrary the extreme fringes there are many in medicine that adhere to the first rule of the Hippocratic oath…. Do no harm!

How is it not about money for you?
If you love flying, and are a “true aviator” as the EPAS group has started claiming, you can continue to fly as a hobby.
If you want to continue as a career, there are part 91/135 operators or flying schools who could greatly use your mentorship.
You just want to stay at the top of the pay scale for two more years at the detriment of everyone below you.
You may be surprised how well you feel in your 60’s, but don’t be surprised by the retirement age. It was there long before you ever stepped foot on a plane.

this isn’t 2006-2007 when there was no hiring and no growth during the lost decade.
nobody loses anything this time. You get the extra 2 years too if you choose.
this generation went from flight school to legacy CA in under 5 years in some cases while these guys that suffered through multiple bankruptcies, bankruptcy contracts, the lost decade and over 16-20 years in the right seat are finally getting a decent life, and the impatient new kids who made captain at a legacy from zero to hero in 5-7 years want them gone.
What’s the money argument for the guys that choose to stay at regionals for quality of life and not needing to relocate family? If it was about money, they’d have gone to legacies during any of the last 15 years. It’s not just money, many truly enjoy flying a large plane taking people on their honeymoon, vacation, visiting family, business meetings, quick getaways. For them, they understand that it’s not just one more leg in a day, it’s somebody’s once in a lifetime vacation, or one chance to get hime to see family and that to everybody behind that door in the paying seats it’s NOT just one more leg. Someday you’ll realize there’s more to life than money. Being an airline captain carries a lot of pride and satisfaction as well. There are many reasons people want to stay. To focus just on money is naíve.
okay to fly, then 1 day older and suddenly you’re unemployed, if that’s not age discrimination then what is?
there has to be a better way.

His career was harmed so he wants to get to harm your career too. Isn't he generous? Don't you want to learn and be mentored a few extra years?

How many times are you all going to make the same inaccurate argument? And you completely disregard headwinds young pilots will face in this industry.
sorry you didn’t have a perfect career, but you were never guaranteed one, despite your entitled attitude. I’d ask you to bow out with dignity, but it’s way too late for that.
if it’s not about the money (despite your ranting post about not making enough money), then you should have no problem taking or part 135 job once you’re done here. For your pride and satisfaction, of course.

there it is. You have no life and no identity outside of your job.

Any slow down in advancement of that seniority inevitably hurts anyone not at the top.
They lose money. It goes to those above them.
I am trying to make this is simple as possible.
You now HAVE to work the extra 2 years to achieve that seniority and make up for loss of earnings. Google how investments grow over time.
