The fact that you assume this is about money for me tells me this is all about money for you. It's ok. But you should at least admit it.

I know you won't, but when you get to 62, try to remember what you have posted and see how well it ages.
How is it not about money for you?
If you love flying, and are a “true aviator” as the EPAS group has started claiming, you can continue to fly as a hobby.
If you want to continue as a career, there are part 91/135 operators or flying schools who could greatly use your mentorship.

You just want to stay at the top of the pay scale for two more years at the detriment of everyone below you.
You may be surprised how well you feel in your 60’s, but don’t be surprised by the retirement age. It was there long before you ever stepped foot on a plane.

“i won’t even try to make a rebuttal” really sells your argument.

but sure, tell me what this is about if not money.

Hoosier, the pilots against the change just want to move up like you did. Guys retiring or dying. You and your “mentor” buddies need to step aside gracefully like generations before you have. None of you would be for age 67 or no retirement age if you were junior captains or still FO’s. Somehow they survived ch11 and ch7 and gracefully passed the torch. You are truly a disgrace to the profession!

https://www.wsj.com/health/wellness/...?mod=wknd_pos1

WSJ article (paywall) reporting on research that the brain ages in five phases...

0-9 Youth
9-32 Adolescent
32-66 Stable
66-83 Slight Decline
83+ More Decline

The last two are characterized by less cognitive flexibility, while remaining more functional in frequently used pathways and processes, ie habits and routines.

Excellent news! EPAS/LEPF, fire up the calls to action! Blackburn and Nehls can get this over the line next week!

Just cross out "67" and pencil in "83."

The study has been done! It's a no-brainer!

Bluejetdork kept referencing that you only slow down by a blink of an eye by age xx.
I believe he was referencing reflex speed which even at a very old age doesn’t diminish that much.

The point being, people will latch on to whatever study they believe proves their point and disregard all other empirical data.

For clarity, I think the study shows that the current age is pretty close to correct. I think the stable range is the window to shoot for.

If the stable range was 32-70, then that would be a different story. At least as far as the cognitive aspect goes.

A Scientist Says Humans Will Go Backwards in Time Within Just 4 Years

https://www.popularmechanics.com/sci...wards-in-time/

How do you figure this into the mix. It’s an aspect that’s coming sooner than later. My previous career was in the medical field and friends of mine that still practice are preparing for it and today are witnessing miraculous results with machine learning and gene editing. The industry is going to be forced to move away from “age as a number” and move towards a purely physical assessment evaluation in determining abilities. Age 67 is going to be moot at some point in the near future.
