This leads to the point that the former Midwest CEO while good for the airline in it's early days, didn't have the operational competence and leadership to evolve and grow the airline with the changing times once it grew to be more than just a quaint little mom and pop operation. He was obviously in way over his head the last decade or more and was looking for a graceful exit road paved with gold and he got it, as far as most of the general public is concerned, but at the expense of 2000 employees' jobs. The reality is shameful but I doubt any of his neighbors near his new $2 million house in a gated Florida country club community will know any different. He got his...he11, he's even in the WI Aviation Hall of Fame. GMAFB! The YX BOD should've replaced him 15 years ago with someone possessing a proven operational track record but he was their darling and the business community's as well so that would've never happened unless he left on his own volition. Given the history of widespread operational incompetence and executive corruption in the industry, I imagine it would've been difficult for the BOD to find a quality CEO since executives like Bethune and Kelleher were the exception and not the rule.
One of the reasons I stayed at Midwest was I thought a new CEO was imminent. TH told me and several others at a small "talk with Tim" in Dec. 04 that he would retire in Dec. 06. I knew he was in over his head, but we had such a good product and loyal following, surely someone could be found to advance the company to the next level.
Sadly, it is BB with the loss of our seniority.
Regardless, nearly all my animosity in this debacle is directed at the selfish TH.

Well, somebody is listening. This from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal. Seems the general public knows whats going on here. Too bad the employees who implemented this can't see what misery they have caused by low balling a once great company.
MIDWEST AIRLINES
Republic's ownership has hurt employees
Possibly the people of Milwaukee were smarter than Republic Airways CEO Bryan Bedford ever gave us credit for (Page 1A, Feb. 27).
After you send every pilot and flight attendant to the unemployment line, not to mention the mechanics and corporate staff who have blatantly been replaced by Indiana-based Republic, we show our disapproval by putting our money elsewhere - by flying Air Tran or Southwest.
The name of an airline and the ridiculous cookie will never erase the negative feelings associated with Republic Airways. Milwaukee's economy is paying the price for Republic's ruthless business practices. Thousands of laid-off Midwest employees are still collecting unemployment compensation, food stamps, heating assistance, Title 19 health care, re-education and re-training funds while Republic's management and unions have made no real attempt to get those laid off back to work.
My advice to the employees of Frontier? Get your affairs in order before this happens to you.

I'm not stating one thing or another about the opinion of Wisconsinites regarding the Midwest brand, but this is obviously NOT the general public. I'm all for people trying to provide background information to their arguments, but calling rants from understandably ticked off YX employees the "general public" doesn't count.

Seriously, dojet made a really good observation, there is no need to get upset over facts. The question really is "What Will Bedford Do"? No one (with the exception of a couple original Midwest Legacy pilots) has come after the RAH regional pilots. So why don't you take it easy and keep the thread on track, before they lock it up.

Careful now. Oil has recently topped $80 a barrel, and RAH actually has to foot a fuel bill. You'll see just how tough it is when those fee for departure contracts start running out.

TD, yep you're off on this one. DoJet driver has a quite valid point; a mainline product that is so diluted and confused the pax don't have a clue what they're actually getting is absolutely going to drive them off. The ideal action for the Bedfordites to establish a true LCC would be to pay all ground employees the old Frontier rates without freezes, and move towards having the cookie and the TV on all the Ejets and Airbuses. Sadly, and though I stick up for you all as a pilot group, Bedford seems to be running the company far more like Johnny O these days.

And it's obvious because...............?????
You'd be suprised how well the people of Milwaukee knew the Midwest Brand. They had a very loyal business following, and I guarantee you they have seen the difference.
That's not a knock on the RAH pilot group. It may seem like one, but it honestly isn't. Intregration and management/policy/procedure changes flat out have bumps. That, and the 717's are gone. They know the difference.

This mess goes back to TH & the Board with who knows how TPG/Seabury and NWA/Delta play into the mix. Looking back on it, I am more and more puzzled by the vehement rejection of AirTran by TH etc.
For many of us the quickest route to a flying job that pays the bills is most likely Republic Airways. We had better hope that they make this work and sort out the current difficulties. This is not being pollyanna. It is just the way it is for the furloughed YX'ers, the Lynx guys and gals, the furloughed RAH pilots and many thousands of other employees currently on the property.
Good luck to everyone involved.

If you got any ideas on how NOT to negotiate an FO pay rate, I'm sure we'll all listen.

I agree. RAH, (I suspect) is more in the area of opportunistic rather than the complete bad guys.
