With a pilot group this big, I always have a current MD (Mandatory Displacement) Bid in. We are moving stuff around, converting domestic 767 seats to ER, so there are always displacements going on. There is no way to sharp shoot what other will bid. Be prepared and have a MD in so that if displaced you go to a jet of your desire not one that is arbitrary assigned.

Also if MDed you do not have a seat lock and keep your awarded vacation. This is not true on a AE or VD.

Thanks for all the info guys. Is it true that as a new hire you are not seat locked in your first aircraft? Also how long are seat locks at Delta?

No seat lock for your initial assignment in new hire class. After that Every AE or VD will incur a 24 month seat lock. The only exception is your first A seat. They will allow you to break a lock for that.

New hires have no seat lock. Delta calls it a "freeze".

When you do move, the freeze for a new jet is 2 years.
No freeze if you just change bases but not airplanes. ie = no training required.
DTWM88B to MSPM88B = no freeze.

Yes, and as ACL mentioned if you are involutarily bumped out of your seat then you will not be locked on whatever aircraft you're bumped to.

I am a compass flow. I was awarded the MSP M88, but am also being held back for 3 months. Lets say I can bid on the next AE and get awarded MSP 320. Would I be seat locked in the 320, if I have not started training in the M88?

Thanks

Good question.
You guys are the proverbial guinea pigs on that issue. There's never been flows and hold backs before.
You might have to call Crew Resources for an official ruling. Probably DALPA Contract Admin as well.
First ask if you can even bid, then about the freeze.

My guess is that since it is not your initial award, yes, you will be seat locked.
Just a guess though.

I would think YES.

Thanks. I thought I would be, just didn't know how it was written in the contract.
