You are responsible for the trip assigned to you when they leave you the voice mail. However, you have to acknowledge no later than 3 hours prior to show.

6. A long call pilot who is assigned a rotation or converted to short call:
a. prior to release from a rotation, must acknowledge such assignment or conversion
prior to release.
b. via telephone contact or electronic placement on his schedule on his last non-fly day
(other than a vacation day) before an on-call day, must acknowledge such assignment
or conversion no later than:
1) three hours before the scheduled report of the rotation, or
2) one hour before the scheduled start of the short call period.

Sweet! Thanks for posting. Will be nice to be able to do stuff while on reserve without having to carry around the cellphone and/or worrying about missing a call.

Sorry it took me a few days to respond. But commuting from TUS I would try to avoid NYC at all costs. ATL would be a good option because I think we have a few mainline flights outta there to ATL. But as someone else mentioned, try to pick the base with the most mainline flights to it..... If you have a choice of course. Good luck!

I've always been a little confused about that 3 hour thing... Is that for you to acknowledge that they put it on your schedule?? Ie. if they give you an assignment in the middle of the night for 12 hours later, are they going to call you or just put it on your schedule and you have to acknowledge within 3 hours of show? Obviously you can see how not getting a call can hose you when you wake up and check your schedule.

Report can be no earlier than 12 hours from first "attempted" contact.
So leaving you a message is attempted contact. You never have to answer your phone on reserve......not even on short call. Even though I have had some schedulers get their drawers in a bunch over that one.

When on LC or SC, they will call you no matter what time it is when you have an assignment. It's up to you to acknowledge the trip by 3 hours prior either by calling them back, using the VRU or online.

Yep, they always call. I usually don't answer when I'm on LC and then I acknowledge the trip online. When on SC, I typically just answer the phone to acknowledge the trip.

I'm ditto what Rocky said.
I never answer on days off or long call. Always answer on short call.

I just answer both. In reality it serves me no good to not answer. The trip is mine either way.
