If a new hire pilot was previously employed at Delta in a non flying position such as CSA, FA, mech, etc, does that time count towards anything such as pay, vacation, etc? Of course I'm asking for myself. Worked as a CSA for several years during college before getting into the Navy. Asked lots of pilots I met lots of questions and thought "Hmmmm....not a bad way to make a living". Most pilots said "son.....join the military and come back here when you're done". Well I took that advice and did it, and now am hoping to come full circle and end up back at Delta next year when I retire (Can't believe it's almost been 20 years). I understand the industry has changed significantly since then, but it still seems like a great way to make a living. I've applied on Airapps and have some internal recs, now keeping my fingers crossed that there may actually be some hiring going on again next Summer. Thanks for the Info!!!

I will grant DAL at least lets you know where you are going to go.
As a NWA newhire, it was the most random, convoluted process you ever saw.
And people spent exactly 2 seconds explaining how to find your schedule or the ins/outs of position bidding. And the NWA process wasn't exactly simple with block/reserve/temporary/permanent and whatnot. It didn't help that 3 weeks later they changed the whole system from the APE system (similar to DALs) to the APA system.
Anyway, on to other things. If you were a 2007-08 DAL hire, send me a PM....I have some questions.

The advantage you have is that you are a former DAL employee and therefore a "known" commodity. If you left DAL on good terms, it should help you get that interview and the job.

The CVG newsletter said that they had an Oct 11th and 27th class, then done. The flowups have to go to class, but I think that their names will all be on the list after the Oct. 27th class. So, I'd say the seniority list on NOV 1 published on the Crew Resources site will have all the new guys.
