Now if we could get a domestic fuel surcharge removed from the base fare, then we would be in business. Write your congressman
Airlines Federal Taxes and Fees:
  • 7.5 percent tax on the base ticket price.
  • Domestic segment tax of $3.70 per person per segment (a single takeoff and single landing).
  • International travel facilities tax of $16.30 per person for flights that begin or end in the U.S., or $8.20 per person for a flight that begins or ends in Alaska or Hawaii.
  • 6.25 percent tax on the amount paid for transporting property by air.
AMTRAK
  • Absolutely None

Difference AMTRAK is owned by the federal government, and the airlines are not. Airlines seem to be in the cross-hairs of our politicians because it makes for a good sound bite and strikes a commiserative cord with the traveling public. People hate to spend a lot of money on flying, and then find the experience dissatisfying and unenjoyable.

Not to stray to a political tone here, but politicians will always prey on the emotion and sentiment of the American people. Every fare increase or fee we institute will will cause more anger, resentment, and consternation.
Personally, I could care less, but it's the Washington Wild Card that scares me and leaves for a good amount of uncertain tax liabilities that can quickly turn the our black into red.

How about a government mandated "pilot tax" for our pay so the company's can just build it in also. The govenment certifies us as pilots, call it a "safety" tax and we're all set ;-)

The results are in, and this is what we've found: You're a BS'er who just makes this stuff up to fuel whatever agenda it is you have. Bag fees are in addition to fares that have ALSO been rising.

I agree. It's that easy. Either ALPA gets the pilots what they want, or there could be an alternative.

Now answer these easy questions:

1. Should ALPA get what 25% of the pilots want...or what 75% of the pilots want?

2. If ALPA recaptures what most of the pilots want, will the "not most" of the pilots recognize where they fit on the graph?

3. Can you name the two ways any organization can determine what the majority of their group wants?

OK Pineapple Guy, let's discuss the accounting process in a way that even people without accounting 101 can understand. Let's take it step by step. Here's my first question:

When a corporation like Delta decides to PAY DOWN debt - what funds do they use to do this?

Oh, this should be fun. Let's take turns.

Answer: Cash

And here's my first question:

When a corporation pays down debt, what effect does that have on their net income?

There is no apostrophe used when you pluralize most words. nazis is the plural, not nazi's. So there. Barn grads are so dense. Go milk something.

Oh, and LSU gonna lose today. (no, I don't really believe THAT)

This petition is childish. It reminds me of elementary school.

What if DALPA opens with the ENTIRE SWAPA contract plus 5% and states they will accept nothing less? The NMB couldn't possibly bench us for demanding what our competitor has from our also very profitable company. Wouldn't that be a victory sailingfun?
