Any good gouge info recently for SWA? Interview is coming up next week. I didn't know if anything new has been put out there from the most recent candidates.

Caveat, I've interviewed and don't know if I've been hired yet. My suggestion is to smile and be yourself. I'd be prepared to tell your story. I would also have a couple stories for when you saved the day, messed up, had a difficult crew member, etc. I think every interview is different based on your background. They ask you questions as they review your resume. Very relaxed and almost fun. Enjoy your time there and good luck!

Thanks

That should be the easiest portion of the interview because there is no right answer.

Remember to delegate as much as possible, then take all the info you get back an make a decision. You will sit in the "paper tiger" with an F.O. and a check airman in the jumpseat. Those guys will perform any task you ask of them such as communicate with ATC, dispatch, cabin crew etc. USE THEM. Take in all the info you get from them and add in your own insight and make a sound decision.

My scenario involved a sick passenger. The weather at the destination airport was sketchy as was the weather at most possible divert locations. I ended up with a divert to a SWA station where the weather was marginally better than my original destination and alternate although slightly farther away. There really was no right answer, they just wanted to see you take in the info and make a command decision. As a caveat, this was my scenario multiple years ago, but I really don't think it has changed much.

Briefcase, backpack, or brown bag?

Anyone (who has been to the interview) have any advice on what to carry your logs and paperwork in? I have read there is a place to put your bags. I will have my garment bag as well.

Obviously kidding about the brown bag, so no comments from the peanut gallery!

what mechanism did you use to collect weather/runway info for each of your choices given that is is a cardboard cockpit? "ACARS" (as in, "I'm sending a message to dispatch askin for weather and notams for these airports" or, ask ATC, or ask the FO to call for them?

Same with runway numbers? Does SWA still use the laptop? If so, can you ask the JS to look up landing numbers?

Just trying to imagine how best to get all of the info you need to make a good decision within the 7 minute time frame.

Yes there is a room to store your bags. I don't think anyone is taking too many notes on backpack vs briefcase. You can leave your backpack in the room and carry your flight records, medical, certificate to the interview room, everything else will be turned in up front.

Thanks. When did you interview? Any information about those in your group?
