Once you are in a base, only the company can displace you. This would require you to be at the bottom of a base list and the company shrinks the base. Someone senior to you can only get into your base if there's an opening via a departure or base growth.
I got displaced out of HOU with a +10 last year. MCO and BWI were shrinking....those guys got displaced and moved into HOU pushing me out even though the base was growing by 10!.....kinda like musical chairs. Looking forward, I don't see people getting displaced. All the bases will be "growing" with 1,000 transitions. You might not get the base you want but I don't see displacements happening with upgrades, transitions and new hires. For the new hires: Plan on OAK, LAS and PHX. Maybe a spare chance @ HOU and MDW when it all shakes out. Really going to be a function of how many transitions will be in each vacancy bid. |
Do some people get selected at the Decision Board that have not had their references called prior?

Ok I've seen that a couple times. Displaced senior pilots displacing junior ones. Certainly not the norm.

Everyone has their packet go to the decision board apparently. I heard there is still a chance the board can pick someone (if references were not called yet) .... but I am not sure if it has ever happened. |

To all the mil applicants who have interviewed out there, what did you take to the interview for the logbook review? I've painstakingly broken down every sortie from my extracts into a spread sheet which nicely captures my times. Is this sufficient for an interview or should I have my entire stack of extracts as well?

I took my flying history report, a spreadsheet that explains how I extracted the data from the FHR, a spreadsheet that broke down how many hours I've logged in the last 36/24/12/6 months, and my 942. It was more than sufficient. Don't let them fool you, the guy that did my logbook review revealed after we were done that he was a retired F15 pilot. If you follow the directions in the interview instructions you'll do fine, I wouldn't get too in the weeds.
