Default long road here also

707type is not alone. I am also former military and have also had a few TBNTs from major airlines. Hoping that, like him, the third interview works out in my favor, when it eventually comes around.

Glad I'm not alone. But I have to say the wait is excruciating.

Configok, congrats on getting on at Delta. Would you mind sharing with us any specifics on how you got the interview/ job offer with Delta. Specifically what sets your application apart from the rest of folks. A lot of us wanting to know what the secret is! Congrats again. Very impressed and nice to see FO's getting the invite.

Correct, FDX was a last minute surprise, I was all set to start at Delta until I got the FDX invite. Good luck to you CODs.

Default What is competitive?

I've been scouring the forums for a while now and I see bits and pieces here and there. Guys with 4000 hours no PIC and a degree economics getting hired by a legacy and then guys with 8000 hours 3000 PIC a degree in engineering and no violations getting crickets. I can't seem to pin down any sort of answer about what any of the majors are looking for. I know there isn't going to be an exact answer but there has to be some sort of range that will get you onto the acceptable list.

I was told by a United recruiter that it used to be 7000 total with 121 turbine PIC, but the numbers were going down, and that's the closets to a goal that I've been directly told

If anyone has any insight please let me know, but if you've gotten an interview offer or just the pre-interview test, Your stats would be very helpful to all of us trying to find a goal number

Total time
121 time
T PIC
T SIC
Jet time
Heavy
Degree
Any other mitigating factors

Hate to break it to you, but there is no "real" magic number out there, and all you're going to see here are wildly varying stats. Guys getting hired on at United with 7000 hours zero PIC. Guys getting crickets from United with 7000 hours and 4000 TPIC. Women and minorities getting hired on with way less. Women and minorities hearing crickets. Zoomies getting hired with 2000 hours total. And zoomies with 4000 hours who can't get a call for whatever reason.

Best advice; keep flying, keep updating, keep networking. Your "target stats" is such a random number and it fluctuates constantly, with each applicant. You'll go crazy trying to figure out what "you" need. Because the answer really boils down to "nobody but the algorithm knows", and Al isn't talking.

Keep flying.

Keep updating.

Keep networking.

Try to get a leadership position (chief pilot, union position, etc etc)

Keep your nose clean.

And keep flying.
