As for what's "competitive" and target hours, it really doesn't matter, does it? It's nice to know, but the hours you have are the hours you have.
You can't just go out and buy some more to reach them.
I know it's maddening trying to figure out what's inside HR's black box. (I'm not sure they even know.)
Just keep flying and networking and applying. The hours will take care of themselves.

I know there is not definitive answer, but there has to be kind of range they look for. you apply and apply and apply and hear nothing and I just want to know if I'm wasting my time. There's a lot of guys who check every box and hear nothing and its just frustrating. a TBNT would be nice at this point

Range? Lowest I heard was 1,600 hrs, highest was 17,000.
That covers a lot of ground.
