The LGB slots have been filled.

20 is big for us, and the class sizes over the past 6 months have been in the 25-35 range. The latest class was 20 I believe. I'm betting the summer classes will be under 20.

Maybe. Maybe not. Looking at the numbers, FLL only has one more E-190 flight than MCO, so if it DOES happen, I don't think they'll up and move the MCO base as much as people think. Looking at the pairings, we're actually getting FEWER FLL flights than we did. I haven't seen that place in months. SJU on the other hand, is like a weekly occurrence. E-190 makes up 25% of MCO's outbound flights. It makes up 26% of FLL's outbound flights. I ASSUME it's the same on the inbounds. Data is purely non-scientific, pulled from CrewTrac from tomorrow, use only as directed, your mileage may vary.

What is more likely is that they will shrink the amount of 190 crews in Boston and open up a 190 base in FLL. They will not close MCO on the 190, it will cost to much to do it. They are slowly replacing the 190 flight with 320 flight in Boston as well.

That makes sense since JFK is a slot restricted airport and they could use the A320/321 to get the best bang for the buck. Additionally, BOS is a more business oriented market and travelers prefer higher frequency of flights.

Recurrent last year they said IF (and it was a big IF) there were a 190 base opened in FLL, it would be pulling from the northern bases. When I left JFK, it was pretty obvious the 190 was shrinking up there. Fewer openings every system bid, and the lines were more or less to the same 4 or 5 places like SYR, BUF and the rest of the "shuttle" ops. Wouldn't be surprised to see 4 leg days a common thing out of JFK in a bit.

Plus, if they closed the MCO 190 base, the training department would burn down the building. Way harder to buy people off trips up in JFK or BOS......

Hopefully no base is closed but I do think the new management will take into greater consideration the designed stage length of the aircraft. According to Jetblues own numbers the 190 is optimally designed to fly a stage length of 400-800 NM's. Anything above the 800 NM's and the 190 becomes more expensive to operate than a 320 on the same route. Barger and the BOD, in their infinite wisdom, have continued to order more of these aircraft and fly them in a similar fashion to the 320.
