United is better for new hires. Delta has better management. No commute is a trump card. Hopefully one of them calls me soon too.

I got a United offer last week with a likely mid-May start date. Right before my United interview, Delta emailed and I set an interview for early May. Based on a few factors (commute from ORF to IAD/EWR, ablity to probably get 756 immediately), I am going to go work for United. How should I deal with the Delta interview? Should I tell them my availability just moved from now to next fall or tell them that I got another job? Tell them "no"? I'm nearly positive I will be happy at United, but I would like to use Delta as a "safety".

Give BOTH interviews your best shot. Because, as mentioned, you don't REALLY have a choice until you have BOTH job offers in hand.

They probably aren't forced to fly the 767 right away.

Probably referring to the fact that they get hotel through initial training and a little more than DAL's training pay till OE.
