I think they are looking for honesty. They ask the same questions 10 different ways so you are screwed if you try try and "beat it" or answer what you think they want?

Well, you kids just keep plodding along blaming the reason on why you didn't get hired at a major is because you don't have military flying time on your resume.
I also find it precious that some think that they can walk in off the street and be sent to pilot training without serving a day in a nonflying Guard/Reserve job. Sure, there are some units that fill their pilot training allocation that way but most Guard/Reserve pilot training slots are filled by people who are already in the unit in a nonflying capacity. It's called networking.

I know of three reserve pilots off the top of my head who went to UPT off the street. I'm aware the ANG is different.
I never blamed a lack military time for anything. Nor did I ever state whether or not I have any non-flying military time.

Military flight time is the de facto differentiator between a potential candidate getting a call or sitting on the sidelines waiting for a call.
There are plenty of "non-flying" veterans out there with years of service who's phones aren't ringing, while military pilots are getting multiple CJO's left and right and are stuck trying to decide whether they want to go to Delta, FedEx or American.
Your assertation that military experience in general, and not military flight experience specifically, is the deciding factor, is as laughable as your attempt to prove "slots" doesn't really mean what we all know it to mean.

First day of INDOC down at AA. As a mil guy I was truly humbled to see how long the ENVOY flow guys/gals have been waiting for this opportunity. Congrats to all of them. Well deserved and I'm glad to have the opportunity to learn from them and be on their team.

My former unit didn't require that you 'knew' someone. In the last 30+ years I can think of one guy who was enlisted in the unit (now an O-6 so I guess he was deserving). One guy might have know someone(it's been so long I forget). The rest have been OTS that didn't know anyone. The unit ran a blind/neutral interview board and selected the best candidate. Yes, even out of state candidates.
