Well pre merger I stand to retire in the top 10, being in the top 1000 for the last 15 years of my career. I don't see that happening with the new DAL.

And where do you expect to be between now and then? How long do you expect to be on the -9? When do you expect to upgrade to a 757 or widebody? Lineholder? What are your chances of making widebody Capt and when? All considerations along with many more that should be taken into account.

Johnso28 and I are looking at being in the top of the list for the last 25 years of our career flint any aircraft we want under a standalone NWA. We got the 9 now but had age 65 not happened we would be shooting up the list constantly for the next 10 years. Both side have a positive out look and arguments.

More of a group of retorical questions (you demoted Johnso to 28 by the way) that need to be looked at across the board. The fact is that a person has a much higher probability of flying a larger higher paying position much earlier in his or her career at DL. Of course if you are non-military and hired young you will spend a lot of time in the top. Current age is something that will be taken into account by default as those hired older than you reitre.

I will be off the DC9 in the next 3 months. Before the merger, by numbers I would be a widebody CA 10-15 years into a 36 year career. Before age 65, 55% of the NWA pilot group would have retired in the next 10 years. You will not have the same movement at DAL, it's already happened. Had it not been for oil, I would be on the 757 right now.

Johnso29 is right we would make captain faster here at Nwa then a newhire at dal. You may be on a bigger plane now but will likely be on it as an fo longer. Btw not everyone wants to fly the heavies right now.

This of course is always subject to change for either side. As one pilot group hopefully we ALL have better careers.

Hi Scoop,

Yeah I guess my post was more of a question vs statement about Comair too, it just didn't come out that way.

My impression is we get along with the Mesaba guys better than you do with Comair. We want to capture the Compass flying but like Nu says, what to do with the senior Mesaba guys that can't/won't leave who will want "me too" if we absorb Compass. Then if we also absorb Mesaba, then what about Comair.........and the RJDC?

Compass was shoved up our butts during bankruptcy.....an ego thing for Neil Cohn (or Coen-sp?). NWA needed something for him to "run" as he became head of Compass. Thankfully, the new Delta gave him the boot.

I'm a military to NWA guy so what I know about the regionals is what I've been told by friends and jumpseating on them. So..........I'm all ears.

Not me. It was happening regardless of what I wanted. I'm just happy we were able to come to an agreement on a contract. I look forward to working with my new brothers and sisters.

Hawaii,

I've agreed with most of your posts over time........but not this one!

Premerger, NWA discussed DC-9 replacements, what (not if) to replace the freighters with and 787s were going to change the way buisness was done in the Pacific. We could have grown, and without the oil spike and merger we may have grown alot.

Now, post merger, that growth seems pointed to your side. You are the carrier keeping the name and the paint job, but don't for a minute think you "saved" a dying carrier.

OK, rant over..........friends again?
