He seemed to be pretty happy with the training department--I think he said they're trying to do IOE in the base you're going to, but it's mostly PHX & CLT for IOE.
Personally, if I was at his stage again (i.e. a new guy), I'd rather roll the dice at a small operation with a shot at a better contract and a significant relative increase in flying, versus going to a bloated/overbooked/very large pilot group like Republic.
Just my two cents--whether you want to live in Mesa's junior bases (or a short/easy commute away) is also a key factor. ymmv

I hate to see this tread turn into a Skywest is better than Mesa Thread. I think we all acknowledge you guys have one bad ass, b-i-t-c-h-i-n, top of the line regional airline, and all the majors like the product.
That said, some of us occupy seniority numbers at Mesa, and as such we care about our future, as do you at Skywest and all our colleagues at their respective regional airlines.
What point does it serve to try and one-up the other by comparing assets and liabilities. We all suck dude! And the people who pay us - what little they pay us - to carry the responsibilities we carry, count on this mentality, which is pervasive, to keep us divided and play us one against the other.

The shedding of 50's will occur yes, but the 175s and MRJs also replace those airframes. I promise the 50s will no go away entirely as OO operates many of them and the Bro on "at Risk" contracts and makes $$$ doing it... Now you want to talk on time performance? Here's last quarters ontime performance ranked by the DOT
1. Hawaiian
2. Frontier
3. Alaska
4. SkyWest
Ect...
Now the shear capacity we operate in ie United, Delta, Airways, Alaska and Eagle is pretty impressive. I think Mesa was #16.

Training is no longer at Williams Gateway. School house is located adjacent to PHX sky harbor, southwest side. Sim is 2 blocks from there at America West Sim complex. Yes I said AMW.

My nephew (and half his class) did all sims/LOFT/checkride at Williams/ASU, and about half the class before him. Recurrent+Upgrades+New Hires=not enough sim time at SkyHarbor alone.

I remember in 2004 wearing a suit and tie at some fancy Phoenix hotel, and interviewing with two pilots to hopefully get a job at Mesa. Phone interview for a pilot position? One of many indications on where this company and industry is heading. Enjoy reserve new hires!
