If they're going to be that unprofessional, why not get their names and post on forums such as this.

The jumpseat is the Captains property.

If a Captain does not allow someone to jumpseat for a certain reason, that is his/her right.

Unprofessional is not the term that comes to mind.

I think you guys need a lesson in jumpseat etiquette 101.

Jumpseat etiquette 101 says don't start Jumpseat war because it'll only come back to bite you or your coworkers in the arse. Most of us bend backwards trying to get another pilot home or to work. It's definitely captain's authority but abusing that authority for personal agenda to send a message is selfish and childish.

exactly. I might get banned for publishing names, but I'll be happy to deny the douche when he wants a ride on my airplane.

Not necessarily true--many of the people with CA bids in below that guy also have years of 121 experience. We have several former Colgan/9e/RAH/CommutAir/Eagle/XJet folks, even more with solid 135 PIC experience, and quite a few people with corporate time on everything from citations, Gulfstreams, and 727s.

Personally, I think upgrade is much easier for people who have flown multiple types for more than one company (this includes Mesa folks who have flown the Dash, 1900, ERJ, and transitioned to the CRJ). The folks that struggle are the ones who have been sitting right seat in a CRJ-900 in CLT/PHX since they finished San Juan with 250 hours a decade ago--THOSE are the people you gotta worry about--not the furloughed, fed-up Colgan/Comair/RAH/9e FO who made a lateral transfer solely to take a shot at a quick upgrade.

For sure!! I was more thinking about the guy who just got hired last year and this was his/her first airline gig. Although not likely since you need 1000 hours 121... not sure how many actually fly that much?!

Are you even a captain? If not it's not your jumpseat!!! BTW I wouldn't deny the jump seat personally but you're acting like a tough guy threatening to post names of people on this forum!

no more than the Internet "tough guys" who threaten to deny jump seats when we all know they don't have the balls to do it.
