The ALPA reps and some senior guys didn't get the holiday off so they dug until they found something wrong to get the schedule they want

Who the heck was timing out solely because of Jan 1-4 flying?
I mean, this has to be limited to a very small number of people/pairings--I don't know a single person CA or FO who is pushing the rolling year limits, with or without their Jan 1-4 flying being counted.
Jeez.

Can somebody explain to me how SAP works?

I would hope management and the SOC are expecting this.
The 23rd is late enough as it is, this is honestly unacceptable on their part. People have lives and loved ones. This job isn't all people have to do next month. (Well maybe some people)
If Mesa can't get their act together with having schedules out on time (Whether that involves hiring an outside company that can look into the server issues or having more staffing in the crew planning section of the airline) then they need to be prepared for the consequences.
