Yeah really tired of the Mesa bashing. Let's face it, it's a dog eat dog world. Yeah Mesa is getting more flying because of low labor cost. Envoy deserves these aircraft but mainline management doesn't give a squat. They want cheap feed. So blame your mainline CEO's and CFO's, not Mesa. If you shop at Walmart where 90 percent of the products are made overseas your part of the problem. If you own a TV, microwave or refrigerator, there is a 99 percent chance it's made or manufactured overseas. This costs Americans jobs and drives pay down. So don't be a hypocrite.

As long as people are walking through those doors to fly for Mesa, why should they? But I would much rather be here with movement than stagnated in the right seat. No, thank you, been there done that. You can go to XJT, Envoy and Skywest for the honor of working for a company with a superior contract. A contract that is inferior compared to mainline. I'm sorry, but sitting in the right seat of any regional airline sucks when you have the skill and experience to be in the left.

I'm not demonizing other pilot groups. I have just become hardened from the facts of life. The guys standing up for better pay even at the loss of their jobs should be commended. It's very noble. I would like to see a little of that here at Mesa. At least bring up FO pay. It's just a feast or famine business. Right now Mesa is feasting and others are not. We do have contract talks coming up. We'll see what happens.

I bet envoy wished their contract has what Mesa's contract has on the first page. Prohibiting exactly what envoys management has done to them. However, arguing about who's regional is better is a game fought by those with a loser mentality. Right now you will not have a fast upgrade at Mesa. Go to PSA, your better off there. Just don't kick me out of the jump seat.

I have over 6000 hrs SIC time and 9 years with three different regionals and still do not have one hour of turbine PIC. I've been through furloughs, concessions, and downgraded during upgrade training. None of us are entitled to career progression even though we work hard and get people safely from A to B. All I am saying is don't throw rocks in glass houses if you go to to lowest paying regional and don't get the aircraft and upgrade times you think you are entitled to. Most of what I am saying is in response to the Mesa crowd hoping for more aircraft while insulting other carriers' CBAs.

You are describing the topic in a micro point of view. I have been on negotiating committees where my only job was to compare average captain and FO total compensation per airplane at each regional. Average RAH total compensation (including medical, 401k, sick time, etc), even with cancellation pay, was greater than Mesa. Just because you personally make more for whatever reason (living in base, getting off reserve faster) does not make the contract more expensive per pilot. Mesa is the lowest out of everybody, Gojet was second and RAH third. This was done just a few years ago and no contracts have changed since then with any of the bottom three. The E175s nor any CR7s are coming to Mesa for AAG (they want as much flying done in house as possible) but keep waiting for that big announcement soon.

Don't forget, Mesa was in bankruptcy recently. Now they are an all 70-76 airline with a lot of the "fat" trimmed off, contract included. Mesa is in a much better negotiating position today than XJT/ASA. It still isn't a great negotiating position, but they have already been through the downsizing that other carriers are now facing. Downsizing equals low employee moral which then equals a poor product. I know that is a consideration for aircraft placement at UAL, and I'm sure the same philosophy applies to AAG.

If they are so cheap then why are they getting parked? If you re-sign the lease maybe. But maintence costs are high.

Stagnation sucks, but sounds like you just need to stop making crap decisions.
