Quote: Hi guys. I would like to ask if anyone knows (and would like to explain) how much stable a job with Mesa would be for the next ten years. Are the contracts that Mesa has secure ? Also I hear that as a new hire at Mesa you can probably expect an upgrade within the next three years. So if the average flying hours per year is 800-900 then after three years a new hire with 1500 TT will have arround 4000 hours. Do you know people who got their upgrade with a total of 4000 hours or Mesa requires more ? I Apologize to ask such questions but I am coming from overseas and everything was different there. thank you and appreciate.
People are upgrading at or a little less than 3000tt. As far as this industry as a whole, roll the dice, nothing is secure.
Question: As a Mesa captain, can you bid FO and "downgrade", then bid captain again at the time of your choosing? Or does that require training, etc., sort of a re-upgrade? In the same aircraft, that is.
Mesa
You can't downgrade unless there is a displacement. And even in that case, it depends on how it is run (all at once vs staggered).
Thank you RB211

You need an atp to get hired, and far 117 requires 1000 hours of 135/121 time to upgrade. There is no other total time requirement; it's just a matter of seniority, and whether or not they run an upgrade bid when you're next in line.

Normally no, but with the displacements we've had one iad captain do it. I don't think clt captains we're allowed to. The iad former captain plans to upgrade on the emb next bid. She'll have to go through the emb training obviously to become captain on it.
Let's quit feeding the troll guys. I mean who really cares about what some jealous bastard has to say in here anyway.
Quote: Still bitter about SKW turning you down? Shouldn't you be over that by now?
Hah, I was bitter about ferrying CR7's to SLC after SKW bought ASA because you guys flew them for less. Water under the bridge now, but I do find it interesting that some SKW pilots like to bash Mesa, or any other unionized carrier, while trumpeting how great it is at SKW when in reality your management just gives you what those very same folks that are bashed negotiated just to keep you pacified. But by all means, keep talking out of your arse.
Quote: Bro, you understand you and all these Skywest, XJT, TSA and whoever guys who post daily in OUR airlines forum, look like a bunch of f-ing losers with no life... you do understand that right?
It's an open forum. I don't fly for Mesa but my wife does and is interested, as am I, in some of the info that is posted on here. And out of shear boredom I post from time to time. If you want your own private Mesa board then I suggest you start one because APC isn't it.
Quote: But enjoying life! Just got my W2 $109,000.00 not counting my 401K match and only worked 626 hours. Sounds like your the f-ing loser now! I don't usually post on your thread but I couldn't resist your invitation.
That's a good number, but it reminds me of the many friends I'd see in the airport after I got hired at CAL in '06 that were making awesome money at XJT and decided it wasn't worth giving up to come over to CAL with our crap $29 per hour, and no health insurance for the first 6 months, scab style contract. Posting W2's is tasteless and usually sets you up to having karma bite you pretty good.
