Don't forget about Union dues (1.9%), medical insurance, and Social Security.
I was just talking to one of my FOs about this and they barely averaged over $2k per month second year, and this is at Envoy. I shudder to think what Mesa is; I know their medical costs are one of the highest, if not THE highest, amongst the regionals.

First year at Mesa I averaged about $2000/mo, not including per diem. Second year $2600-ish without per diem.

No insurance company or lessor worldwide is going to insure a 787 to be operated by a PIC with the bare minimum 121.436 quals.
I have 5-10x more hours and experience in 121 turbine aircraft operations here, in China, in PACOM and in North Africa, than a person who just got out of AllATPs with a wet ATP and a bunch of time putting around central Texas/South Florida.

That makes more sense. If you are a commuter I could see this numbers. The FO I was talking to lives here and I assume flying 2 days at the time - much less per diem but home a lot more.
My biggest concern with going to Mesa is the pay, lowest per diem out there (is it $1.36 or $1.44?)and ridiculously high medical costs. In fact, I would say if you have a family and cannot get medical any other way, easily 40-50% of your first years monthly salary could go to that alone.
