I plan on listening in. Starts in just under an hour.

Latest news (probably about a month old) is that they are getting closer to a TA. Management and the union have been meeting regularly over the last several months. We are not in mediated negotiations. There is a ALPA conference call next week that may shed some light on the most up to date info.

Well, the negotiations are centered on money right now. Problem is, there isn't much money at Mesa. Hard to get what isn't there. But, they'll try for as much as they can get. Hope to have something to show to the MEC by September.

Anyone who has been through a long, drawn-out contract negotiation knows that--until sections on compensation and scheduling are closed and cleaned--you're not really "close to a TA" at all.
From my sources, the company isn't budging on scheduling--stuff like how they set buffers and criteria for swaps/drops/line enhancement. Until that section is closed, I'll be surprised if it's finished in my lifetime (sans some sort of pressure from our codeshare overlords).

How are you guys not in mediated negotiations? I thought you've been in talks for forever now. Maybe I'm wrong.

Some of the top guys in the union played down word of a new TA when I asked them about it. "Main points agreed upon" means "the easy, non-contentious stuff is agreed upon."

Buddy of mine pointed out that the belkin iPad bracket has been discontinued. They do have a new replacement but it's not approved.

That's not what the top three people in the MEC have personally told me.
