Apparently he's also doing recruiting for MESA i'm told.

Hired in October and already a recruiter.

Can anybody provide some insight into new hire training (and the training department in general) at Mesa? I am getting the impression that there can be a large disparity between cultures and philosophies between various regional carriers. I've heard some horror stories about experiences at some regionals where its more of a "rank and yank" approach as opposed to others who "train to proficiency" and legitimately want their new hires to succeed.

What's the overall thought on the training at Mesa? (This is coming from a CFI w/ 1,300 hrs looking to make the jump with no prior 121 or 135)

Yes many guys and gals getting class dates later 2014, but that could change if the attrition picks up.

The training department is by far the finest group of individuals you can find. Don't come in with a cocky attitude and they will help you as much as possible. For some the jump from a paddleboat to a jet is overwhelming, just get your flows and know your **** so you can concentrate on your flying. Alot of people have been struggling but they will work with you if your not a blamer and accept your not Chuck Yeager YET! Hehe

Any ball park guesses as to what the average wash-out rate is?

Ask the new guys, they should know. But I heard they will help you out if you don't have attitude. But some folks just need to go back, fly some boxes 135 and get more experience.

Two guys failed out of my class after they were given an additional 5-6 sim lessons on top of the standard 8. They just weren't able to get it but the training dept spent a lot of time on those guys trying to get them through.
