Heading to Mesa

And Skywest is starting revenue service sooner than Mesa, but both had their first planes delivered at the same time. They are simply on a different schedule. Why burn gas if you don't have to?

All this Mesa bashing baffles me. Actually, it quite honestly makes me sick.

I am treated like a human being here which I was not at RAH.

I make more money here than RAH.

We have GREAT people in the training dept. We have two GREAT Chief Pilots.

I have only been here a year and I hold an 85 hour, 15 day off line.

I am looking at a fall upgrade.

So first year pay is two dollars less than you Skywest folks?

The difference is, if you get in now at Mesa, you will never see 3rd year FO pay, heck you may never see 2nd year FO pay.

Good grief.

I'm glad to hear that things have improved there from what they were years ago. That being said the thing that would still turn me off to Mesa is the fact that they're cold calling people for classes that applied 10 years ago, and they're hiring people with only phone interviews. Those are the people I would have to sit in the cockpit with on a 4 day and they're just being hired because they have an ATP and a pulse. I imagine in the future you'll be forced to fly with some real pieces of work due to that practice.

Not arguing for their practices, but you fly with real pieces of work no matter what the hiring practices of a company are.

Some places have more than others. In 2.5 years at my current regional I've only flown with 1 captain that I could never stand to fly with again, and one more that I'd prefer not to fly with but could put up with. I feel like that's not too bad for 2.5 years. I think different airlines have different ratios of good:bad. I imagine hiring with phone interviews will lead to a bigger amount of the bad ones that couldn't get hired anywhere else.

SkyWest first delivery: March 25, 2014

Mesa first delivery: April 10, 2014

Two week difference on delivery, four week difference on start date. But sure, SkyWest wasted more money doing it. Because it's worth doing right, is it not?

Your high school accounting teacher would be so proud of that philosophy...

"Since we have them lets go fly them around and waste money!"

Are you kidding me?

You know that we don't operate in a vacuum. When the majors play this musical chairs game with whipsaw we ALL suffer. You are being treated well NOW, because it serves their purpose and they are a renewed airline with low labor costs. Maybe you hit it right, get in, GTFO, don't care about who you fly for. Or maybe MESA will just keep growing as those mainline jobs disappear to be transformed into poorly paid regional jobs.

Meanwhile a great group of guys who have spent most of their careers at Eagle (many due to furlough from AA) are about to be hosed because they refused to set the bar any lower. This also goes for all the other regional pilots who said No Mas!.

Please point out in my statements where I have said anything negative about Eagle or happy that we may or may not get AAG 175's. I would love them to go to Eagle over us.

We have pay rates for them in our contract. They're have the ability to show up on property here whether you or I like it.

Please don't construed my points.

So its a waste of money to ensure your pilots are properly trained before flying around paying passengers?

I caution you that since you have clearly stated who this person is, by name, what his current title at Mesa Airlines, INC. is, and by using such statements as "roid pumping reckless retard pilot." This is borderline libel and could be grounds for a defamation lawsuit.
I have seen judges allow internet records to be subpoenaed many times. Just something to keep in mind.
