I saw two names on the roster today, both hired within the past four months, that I never thought I would see at the airlines. I worked at one of the largest flight academies in the country with these two individuals and to say that they were constant screw ups would be putting it nicely. They ended up getting axed which was pretty hard to do at the flight school level unless it was safety related.

Also the only rumor I picked up was the the E-Jet order will go from 18 to 25.
Curious how we will have a net gain of the 250 required pilots to fly 25 new ejets. We will be lucky to staff the 30 we have in 12 months. Edit: unless something changes with respect to pay or QOL.

PIT, CLT, MCI, etc.--seems like they just keep whittling down the hotel standards over and over and all you new hires just keep piling in here like lemmings thinking you're gonna upgrade in 18 months...sigh

Personally, I like to feel comfortable that I'm still disease-free if the need arises to walk to the bathroom barefoot, but it looks like our new hotel in MCI has 106 of 202 Trip Advisor reviews of "Terrible" and something like bottom-5% of Trip Advisor rankings for the entire area.

I just stayed at the Sheraton MCI last week.

Yup, we can't seem to be keeping up with the attrition. Been hovering around 1200 pilots for as long as I've been keeping track (the last 7 months).

It changes to a nonbranded dump next month...look it up on the hotel list/PBS pairings for next month, and google the TripAdvisor reviews for it--sounds horrible:

Here is an essentially random sampling of quotes from countless "terrible" TripAdvisor reviews and photo captions:

"Just don't"

"Run not walk away from this hotel"

"Nasty!! Filthy, grungy. Run away from this one."

And the best comment for our new MCI hotel on TripAdvisor?: "Worst hotel I've stayed at in my 59 years."

Bye bye Four Points Sheraton!!! Hope you enjoyed your nights at that acceptable hotel while it lasted, El Dorado.

Do not respond if you're a Kool-aid drinking management cheerleader.
Quick upgrade isn't gone...look at the last upgrade list. When one comes out showing a long wait, then it'll be "officially" gone. Right now, freaking quick! That will keep a number of pilots showing up.

Only quick upgrade is if you have the 121 time from another carrier. And it's only on the CRJ for now. There are 200+ guys coming up on their 1000 hours in the next few months and most are wanting the EJET.

Anyone who disrupts DM's sadness echo chamber is a management cheerleader.

PIT is probably the worst hotel I've stayed in at Mesa, and I didn't mind the previous one that much. Is this happening because FAs complain? I wonder what they'd do if a crew (or just the captain) simply refused to stay there...
