New Mesa Thread
#3801
I have no problem with people trolling and blasting mesa on this forum, as long as what they say is factual and true. Add hominem attacks I don't care for, and attacking people for coming to Mesa is stupid. For some people, this is a perfect destination. Many of the complaints will hold true with all regionals. I am not a cheerleader but made out very well coming to Mesa simply because of timing. It's in all of our best interest to have the classes empty, and people not coming here...

Hotel finally changed in SDF. We're at Four Points Sheraton near the airport. I have not stayed there yet but just saw that it changed.

I don't know, did we? Were you that guy who was spending his entire paycheck on health care costs? Or the one who was 2 months behind on rent?
Actually, it'll be kind of hard to narrow it down with just those clues. My Mesa nightmare will be over soon, but not soon enough. I'm *this* close to just cutting my losses and starting over at another regional....no I won't tell you which two I'm thinking about going to. But one is wholly owned and receiving new aircraft and the other is non wholly owned but seems stable enough.
If some of you think Mesa is just another regional with just your average share of problems...well....I can't help you. I wish it was as simple as showing up, doing my job, going home. Unfortunately the misery this place creates follows you 24/7..from abusive crew tracking, to the low (non existent) pay, run down third world motels we stay at, I could go on.

You're right I haven't....unless you count the 2 tours I did in Afghanistan, the six months I spend in Saudi Arabia, and the 8 months in East Timor. And although I wouldn't consider it "third world" I also spent some time traveling for leisure through most of South America and Europe.
So if you don't count any of that..you're right! I don't know what I'm talking about and Mesa is the cat's meow!!

Get in, get your time, and leave. Complaining on the internets won't really help. Most people know Mesa's pay rate and healthcare costs when they voluntarily sign up to work here. There are no surprises.

They keep the hotel budget at a fixed-level: one improvement like SDF immediately gets us knocked down a notch somewhere else. New hires keep filling classes though, so pay no attention--it's not going to change.

I haven't had a hotel at Mesa that was remotely as bad as the CHU I lived in while in Iraq or the plywood box in Afghanistan. And I was lucky to be single occupancy while TDY stateside, and for that matter lucky to not be in a community tent while TDY stateside. I don't know how you can begin to compare service in the military to life at a regional, or even be a complainer about life here. My QOL at Mesa is 10x my QOL in the military, by my pay is about 1/5 of my pay in the military. You (should have) known what you were getting into. You won't stay at good hotels at any regional. Some of ours aren't bad (double trees, marriotts, etc), most are average, and a few are horrible. Write enough complaints and we get a new one.

As the old vendor's contracts expire, and API books more and more of our hotels, standards are definitely ratcheting downwards. Every one improvement is offset in the budget by 1-2 downgrades.
Better hotels in SDF/BHM? Sorry there goes the DFW Marriott and MCI Four Points. Problems with the CLT BW and the PIT Wyndham? Now we're gonna put you in even worse places!!!

We're losing the Marriott DFW next month.
