Yes, it is. Great pilot group, excellent training program, decent bases, and management leaves you alone.

Feel free to add to the list of miscellaneous charges I will incur by joining MESA?

Why would you pay for base and commuter parking?

Who is feeding y'all this info? Are you really that dense?

Of course we don't pay for drinks on the plane.

Yes. This isn't a hobby. This is a career. You don't hear doctors saying, "I don't care how much you pay me. I just want to cut into people."

Who cares if he doesn't need the money? I don't find it offensive, in fact I enjoy picking the brain of these guys on money matters during a 4 day.

If I have to explain it, you won't get it.

He's just being up front and honest. No need to rag on him. It's ok to be jealous of others who were dealt a more favorable hand in life, but no need to hate on him for it.

A lot of us are financially able to suck up a few years of bad pay, it's nowhere near "our fault" that the company pays so poorly.

if you are taking about contracts, labor agreements.... I get that. If they have people who will work for less, they won't raise their wages. "it's bad for everyone". I have been around a little while and realize that "everyone" is worried about themselves. I wish it wasn't this way, but it is. So I have to look at it like a means to an end.... focusing on the end result in this career... not hobby.

I'm not portraying a lack of respect. I hope you don't read it that way. Not my intent. I'm not wealthy. I understand the need to be frugal. All of our situations are different. I worked my butt off to build a small business. Now it can run by itself. That provides an income. My wife has a great job. So income isn't as important as other factors, which is why I asked about those. I don't need to hear about pay. No disrespect intended.

You're not being a jerk even when others are, so kudos for that. I just wanted to point out that Mesa isn't unique in the suckage, and I have other 121 experience to draw on for that. I was (and am) married, and I stayed in a crew room plenty of times as well as a cheap crash pad. I made it work, and I now look back on those times (a full year) fondly as a unique and crazy experience. It sucked big ole hairy donkey balls, but it is what it is.

Mesa has treated me well on reserve. But, people tell me that's because we have decent staffing. They say if staffing starts to slide, then reserve life gets worse. I don't know. But it has not been bad at all. Training was great and enjoyable. Mesa's program didn't have many of the polished bells and whistles my other airline had, but they get the job done. Instructors were friendly. My sim partner had never flown a jet and struggled a little bit, but he didn't repeat any lessons or have any actual trouble. He knocked his checkride out of the park.

Get over yourself. The pay has been a lesser issue for me as well, but I understand and respect not everyone is the same as me. Chill out with that accusatory tone. OP wasn't flaunting it or using it to put other people down.
