Since I've been with mesa as an FO I've seen you young captains playing music before the flight whie we are supposed to be getting the plane ready. I've seen a young CA grab his phone as we were taxiing on to the rwy I've seen a young CA taxi on the wrong taxiway I've seen several times the young know it all CA punch in the wrong rwy on the fms. And I've only been here a short time. How does a person who has such a responsible job think age has anything with how well a person does their job. As you go through life you will always work with people of all ages. GET USED TO IT. Learn from everyone you come in contact with. That's something from an old guy who's been flying 25 years. And no I'm not an expert I'm learning everyday from all the pilots I fly with. Even the young smart *** punks who think they are gods gift to aviation.
..."No we're a bit fast for flaps one, how about some gear to get slowed, ok we're getting high, keep descending, don't level off......"

I watched a CA and his crew check into a hotel with no power without asking any questions, as I was trying to get my crew a new hotel for the night.
Controllable heating/AC - electricity, is a requirement of part 117 rest rules....

They probably didn't even notice the difference.

Dude what is up with this? Is our hotel committee responsible for letting this happen? MSP was one of the best hotels!

So playing music at a reasonable volume makes a captain unprofessional? Seriously, get out of here. It takes literally 5 minutes to get an airplane ready if you don't have a can full of MEL's to look up. Just because you may be new and can't wrap your mind around things doesn't mean everyone else is on your level.
Pulling out their phone when taxiing ON TO THE RUNWAY is a whole different thing, though.

Uh ... yeah, duh! Music is for the passengers to enjoy and relax with. If you want to relax stay home by the pool, you have a serious job to do now buzzie. Time to grow up!
