Reading through the Roadshow FAQs just highlights the ridiculousness of this who thing...
Q: Won’t the company just always claim that long call would require additional staffing, therefore never offer it?
A:MAG flight ops management understands the value of long call reserve, especially in light of FAR 117. They have every incentive to properly apply long call reserve.
That is a BIG assumption. Mesa is going to do whatever is best for them and their staffing, not because there is "value" in long call. I just don't see the incentive, or we would have it now. I would say the more realistic answer probably is yes...
Q: I heard Jonathan just bought a fancy car.
A: Neither Jonathan nor senior management has controlling interest in MAG any longer—it is controlled by a Board of Directors comprised of representatives of major shareholders. MAG is not his private piggy bank. Just like you, what he does with his salary is his own choice.
Who even thought this was question worth answering, let alone putting it in your FAQ section...
The whole MEC argument was that why not take the money now, because there isn't anymore down the road. My view is that for 30 cents an hour, I might as well just wait and see how the industry plays out over the next year.
Though if I vote yes, I could almost afford a new pack of gum every trip at the airport NBC store...

Some have said that quick upgrades have stopped. Just curious if one could share the junior Captain DOH on the 175 in IAH.
Thanks!
Thanks!

DFW CRJ went at Nov 14 on the latest award, so CRJ is still quick, but that will slow here soon as well.

The "quick" upgrades only apply to those with previous 121 experience. It will take a newhire with no 121 experience about 20 months to amass the required 1000 hours of 121 SIC time here. Whether there are upgrades to be had 20 months from now is anyone's guess.

Thanks for the info guys. I was mistakenly under the impression if one was hired on the 175 in June 2014 with no 121 experience they could upgrade within a year and maybe be that May 2014 hire who is junior on the 175.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
