Yes and no. United had distributed their E-170 fleet among Republic, Mesa, and SkyWest. The reshuffling happened as a result of Republic's bankruptcy. And yes, then there are some rumors that SkyWest pushed Mesa.

What does that mean? "Skywest pushed Mesa"? I am unfamiliar with that. Thanks.

This will happen naturally. Mesa has fallen so grossly behind its's competitors on pilot compensation that they won't be able to staff new jets unless there is significant improvements to the contract up to industry standard. They won't even be able to staff the current jets. Attrition is picking up.

The majors know this. They aren't awarding jets without looking down the road at staffing plans. They know Mesa is far behind the industry.

If new jets are awarded, how could Mesa possibly staff them?

Just to clairify before the year ends:
Sick time accrued does NOT roll over, right?
Don't use it you lose it?
They're offering to buy back up to 8 hours due to perfect attendance for Nov; I have 24 hours just sitting there-
should I use it to get out of a trip?

I've never called in as a lineholder- if you do, is it one call on day 1 or so you have to keep calling in each day? (Only time I ever called in sick, and I was legitimately down and out, was when I was on reserve)

Sick time rolls over. Lineholder, one call per trip for sick call. Reserve-every day.

There is one rumor (as in: not a fact, and likely far from the truth) saying that when United was looking for a home for some of the E-175 originally destined for Republic, SkyWest told United that they would not only take those airplanes, but also finance them if United also transferred to them all of Mesa's E-175s. Back then Mesa was only operating 30 E-175s, all owned by United. Supposedly, that is the reason Mesa had to scramble to finance the additional airframes in spite of allegedly being "broke."

I believe that is what 20sx was referring to.
