No! I was just say do your own thinking. You never know how your life will be until it's over. Pilots were saying don't go to work for the B scale at AA in 1984. I went to work under the B scale and it worked out for me.

Are you kidding us! Or yourself? Spirit will hire the best they can. They may not hire the letter writer but anyone else if fair game to them. Mesa or anyone else.

What exactly did you learn and from whom? Are you on speed dial from Bendo Yuri or Sandy?

People are not getting hired because they are not trying hard enough.
The easiest thing to do is nothing.

1. Sent out an unprofessional letter that's been called unprofessional by hiring managers at other airlines.

2. Called out Spirit, etc as a second tier job that you can settle for. I'm sorry but what? That's a hell of a lot better than Mesa and trying to mold an image that it's either legacy or nothing is asinine. How many Mesa lifers would have wished they could have gone to spirit years ago, while saying oh eventually I'll get to a legacy. I'm sorry but in 3 years you'll make over 6 figures with great work rules. That's not second tier.

3. EL is supposed to rep the pilots, not send emails with his fellow union workers names on it without their permission, what kind of professional move is that?

4. Does EL really have the pilots group interest at heart? Or his own? Was he at all the picketing events? As someone stated before, pounding the table sounds great but we have to abide by the RLA, it sucks but that's the reality of it. The CA rep is supposed to rep the pilots, but here is an interesting tidbit. Does he? I nominated someone else to be the CA rep but somehow Eric ran unopposed... I find that curious. I then ask who counted the nomination ballots, only to find out it was none other than our lovely CA rep. So, yeah. I'd prefer someone with the true interest of the pilot group at heart. Not someone who has proven to be self serving.
Spirit is definitely better than Mesa, but it's still not up there yet with United, Delta, etc. His letter was letting the pilots know there is a real problem with hiring from the legacy airlines and possibly what to do to rectify the problem. I don't believe for a second it was ever meant as an attack on Spirit.

I seriously doubt EL had a malicious intent when he sent that letter out with their names on it. He most likely just overlooked it when he sent it in to ALPA. I'm sure he won't make that mistake again

EL is for the pilots. I've flown and talked with him. He's a good guy, just very easily fired up when it comes to the company. Just about anyone who has worked 20 years for Mesa is easily fired up.

A good guy that seemingly ran opposed as a captain rep when other people were nominated?

And on a side note about the letter where it says, "legacies don't hire from Mesa likebthey do everyone else or what not."

That's a factually true & false statement all in one. Yes, it's true that may be the case. Those regionals also have a bigger pilot group, some have flow agreements or interviews, and finally their pilot groups are older and have more flight time. Previous 2013 most of the Mesa pilots are almost career Mesa people for circumstances outside of their control. We almost tripled in 2013-15 so it's a fact that the majority of our pilot group is low time comparative to people at other regionals. Especially considering people with friends (at other regionals) hired during the expansion, most of your counterparts are still at their regional. My friends that went to Envoy and Skywest are still at Envoy and Skywest....

And my friend from IAH texted me and told me there is a IAH captain who is like 25 and just got hired by delta from Mesa... with no internal recs or military time. So I don't think we are so shunned that we needed a letter of that nature.

The very fact that he is a CA at the age of 24 stands out. His head must be screwed on correctly, and he must of been driven from an early age to do this profession.

Great to see that person get hired, but those of us who don't belong to an underrepresented group probably shouldn't expect a similar outcome. Yes, that person was probably a squared away individual, however, there are a lot of very qualified individuals who aren't getting called.
