I wonder why most of my ”camarades” are only focusing on the last leg of the trip... if you’re a commuter, being reckless to make your flight home might be cool for you and I get it, all things Aviation revolves around you at this specific point in time and space..

What is wreckless about flying the plane at maybe .02M below max speed if the ride permits it? What is wreckless about taxiiing at an APPROPRIATE speed for major airport ops? Riding the brakes on taxi sounds like a good way to jam up the airport and burn up the brakes faster.

There are a few captains out of IAD notable for this. Nothing worse then when you’re on your commute home and the flight time is 45 minutes. Yet even with a 1:20 block you show up 10 minutes late. Pulling into the pad to “get numbers” or “fix a problem” all while they’re just running the clock.

While I was there, I flew with a captain, he did that for two reasons. 1) Overblocking, 2) so he can have more PIC time. Yes, he was recent upgrade. But the sad part was, he taxied so slow, people missed their connections. On day 3 of our 4 day trip, my classmate was behind us, and it was his go home day. He messaged me that we are taxing to slow and he's going to miss his commute home. The captain, told me tell him " Shut the F up, it's more flight time!" However, on go home day for us, he taxied fast and first one to jump off the plane. On Another note, i asked him, if any FO ever complained about him taxing so slow. He said "No, but on his last tips, FO looked at his watch to make a point, he slowed down even more" He also said, that if someone ever tells him that, He will tell them, Shut the F up". I was like, wow, I can't believe what i am hearing. I hated that trip and the captain for his attitude. Unfortunately, I had 2 back to back trips with him. But then he went on my no fly list.
Fly safe,

Ejet upgrades dropped to 22 months. With the pitiful number (16) of Ejet CA’s coming online with the latest standing bid, there will be no rest for the weary. I wonder when they will figure out that treating your CA’s like sh*t by flying the sh*t out of them, and ignoring their PBS bids, is not the way to keep pilots happy.

The issue of killing the CA’s through their lines is causing CA’s to look into going back to corporate flying where they feel QOL will be better.

There are FO’s out there waiting on their upgrade and FO’s on reserve not being called. FO’s with 80 hour lines. And, FO’s trying to give away their lines. Seems they need to shift more FO’s from the right seat to the left, and let the FO’s share in the pain.

Upgrading pilots is not some simple "let's move this guy from the right seat to the left". For every one Captain event you end up with two training events. One for the upgrade and one for the replacement FO. Also, depending on where that FO is coming from he/she won't see the line for a good 2 to 3 months. So that doesn't solve anything in the here and now.
It's a rather simplistic view of aviation to think that you can just move a guy from the right to the left seat and solve a Captain shortage overnight.

There is not an excess of FO's anywhere in this company. The only FO's on reserve are there because of their bid or just came out of training.

I appreciate the complexities of recruiting FO’s. I also know we are losing one CA for every one we upgrade.
Personally, I would like to see Mesa keep the United contract. I don’t want to move.
