Tim Martin is the exact type of pilot that our industry does not need. He should be black-balled from our industry for this.

That's what others thought about pilots crossing picket lines, but they were accepted by alpa once dues were paid!

I don't think this tim guy is suspended, he is still on the schedule
Company message as of today stating he has valid certificates....

Our industry doesn't need pilots like this. The should be black-balled from our industry. Delta should drop ALPA. United would soon follow. ALPA will fold if that happens.

Whats even more ridiculous about this than the guy's lies are that ALPA wrote a story on him without ever checking out any of it. I'd more embarrassed to have ALPA as a union than this pilot as a fellow coworker.

There will ALWAYS be people who lie and cheat. But there doesn't have to be a union so spineless that they let it happen through ineptitude.

Come on man. He didn't deserve that. He is holding his union accountable for "our" trade publication. They have an obligation and yes, a responsibility to fact check else we all end up looking like clowns. Not trying to flame here, but there is a big difference between one of my airline brothers and our union when it comes to responsibility for communications in print vs. verbal communication in private or on an anonymous web board.

Best...Philly

I asked him how he was able to hold an ATP due to the moral character statement in the FARs. He said that there is another law that supercedes that. It says that if someone has gone to jail for a crime he cannot be restricted from working in his chosen profession. I feel confident that someone who was previously convicted of drug trafficking would have some problems becoming a pilot, however, someone that was a pilot prior to the arrest may have a way back into the ranks.
Slight thread drift, but further supports that even after a felony conviction, the moral character statement for the ATP is used rather loosely.

Here is an interesting accident report.... Pay particular attention to the PICs history prior to the accident and the toxicological examinations of both the Captain and FO. At least this crew was not conducting passenger operations although that doesn't make this crews actions any less reprehensible.

There is something that will prevent one working in this profession quicker than anything. It is always overlooked. If you are a felon, you cannot hold SIDA access. This little caveat has nixed a lot of people's plans for returning to the cockpit.
