[edit] which you point out in your second sentence. yes the guy needs help, and may get it now. but unless you are a pathological liar as well, it doesnt take God's grace to save you from the same fate.

EDIT - sorry, i didnt realize what i said was an insult worthy of removal - i'm new.
let the record reflect that what i said was, in general, i vehemntly disagreed that it was an excellent post.

FROM Wikipedia

Also, there is a military slang term, "Walt", which is an abbreviation of the name 'Walter Mitty', which refers to someone who has aspirations to become a soldier, [F-16 Pilot] but none of the necessary personal qualities.

OK, I'm trying to fill in the blanks to figure out what you disagree with in Boomer's post or my endorsement of it. The point is we are all susceptible to errors. This wasn't an error, it was premeditated. You disagree?

i am disagreeing with the asserting that the post about God's grace was an excellent post. most of the rest of what you are saying is correct, but i cant make it balance with the idea that "There by the Grace...". it WAS premeditated, therefore grace would not be necessary for you, i and anyone else that is not a pathological liar. right?

Striketime...I am to laugh. I FOUND him! But why is there a chick in the picture (at about 2 oclock) that appears to be writhing on the ground with her dress/jacket up in her undies? Do I need to start checking out "Where's Waldo?" books for my trip entertainment?

jwall -

You are disagreeing with the wrong post. I believe you are trying to disagree with the "There but for the Grace of God, go I" comment.
That was Vagabond's post. The other two were disagreeing with it - as do I.

Two stories come to mind. During Desert Storm a young enlisted Air Force type got carried away trying to impress his hometown sweetheart by sending her letters detailing his nightly exploits as an F-111 pilot bombing the hell out of the Iraquiis! Unbeknownst to him she was so smitten by his heroics she had his letters printed in the hometown newspaper for all to read!! When He returned the town (Somewhere in New England) threw him a Parade!!!! well he was oted shortly thereafter, but the poor kid was just trying to get some!!!
The other story is much sadder, we had a Tim Martin type in my AF squadron, he was a real Air Force /airline pilot, but felt compelled to tell people very elaborate exagerrations, like he flew Crop dusters while at UPT making $1,000 a day, and the best was he flew heavies because after he shot down 2 Migs in Desert Storm he had to eject and hurt his back!! These stories would surface periodically and we took it as a strange personality quirk. A few years ago his story telling got him in trouble and without going into detail he lost his job at a Major Airline, He was a Captain, and got canned by the Air Force as well....seemed he was bragging about stuff to a person who checked it out and was busted by his Airline for double dipping while on orders. The squadron grounded him while all the investigating went on for fear that he'd do something rash. As a minimum this Tim Martins should be grounded immediately!

I agree, and I think, so did American Eagle. It was reported, either in this thread, or the one that got closed down, that he had been taken off the 2 day trip that he was on.

If even half of this is true, he needs his medical pulled until he can prove that he's not dangerous, and his ATP should be suspended (assuming he has one) under the "good moral character" clause until such time that his "character" improves... maybe a month or so? [edit; I see he does not hold an ATP]
