I almost didn't bother to watch since it took so long to load (when it comes to waiting on my pc, I have the attention span of a ferret on a double expresso). I'm glad I did, as someone else said: Someone has too much time on their hands, but that was funny.

As this has clearly taken on a life of it's own (this being post #355 in this thread alone), I am proposing a new adjective in honor of this:
Martinizing (reminiscent of the dry cleaners) - to falsify one's qualifications or resume in a manner which is completely beyond belief.

Example [A high-school drop out applying for work]: I applied for that job at Burger King and wanted them to notice my application, so I Martinized it and told them I had a PhD. in astrophysics, worked part time as a neurosurgeon, and volunteered at a rescue shelter on weekends.

Wow.

This pilot has some issues, but posting this picture with his likeness on it on a public forum with that degrading and embarrassing content would easily meet the criteria for a defamation suit.

If he sees it and pounces, he won't have to worry about flying RJ's any longer.

LOL. That's almost as funny as the painting. I'd love to be in that courtroom.
....(insert picture of Tim testifying in full Colonial Era clothing)..."Yes Judge, I do believe it is extremely likely that the average person viewing that painting would be led to believe that I was actually there, leading the crossing of the Delaware. Have you not heard about me leading the charge onto Omaha Beach and taking the first step onto the surface of the moon? Dammit, I've got a reputation to protect."

1. Nobody knows who photoshopped this picture...its everywhere.

2. The picture is an expression of an opinion (TM is a liar) that has already been proven true. It is also not a statement of Fact...i.e. the author was not trying to convey that he was the actual George Washington.

3. TM is now a "Public Figure" due to being published by a Magazine, Newspaper, and now TV news. The picture in question is not the basis of those reports, TM's own statements are.

Sounds like he has very little standing for defamation. You commit an act, receive negative press, people can respond to that press and express opinion, even on public forum. Maybe someone can query Vagabond on the issue. TM can waste his money on a lawsuit if he wants, but it sounds like he needs to be saving money.

To pay the bills, half of the 8th floor was sold off about 18 months ago.
Sad.
The last time I was "downtown", the President and other officers occupied the ALPA portion of the 8th floor. This is what I was referring to. The President, and selected "special" others have offices both downtown and at 535 Herndon Parkway.

Yes, it is sad and it's going to get worse, financially, for ALPA.

In my view, if enough members get to the point that "we're tired of this %$#&^ and we're not taking it anymore" and vote with their feet, there will be real trouble in River City. I realize that takes drastic measures and talk is cheap; however, the Tim Martins fiasco only exposed a portion; the tip of the iceberg if you will, on what's wrong with ALPA today. Being addressed in a separate thread under the Major category, is a movement from the Delta guys to de-certify ALPA. Will it work, probably not, but this has been done at United and if the "movers and skakers" in the officer group at ALPA don't wake up and realize that the organization in many areas is completely dysfunctional, they may have to sell the remainder of the 8th floor.

Change isn't going to come from the "Good Ol' Boys Club" (Prater, Rice, Wycoff, Couette and the BOD). It has to come from the grass roots; the LEC's and the MEC's. Standing together, they can and will make a difference. Change within ALPA will certainly not come from the top. The GOBC (Good Old Boy Club) is very powerful and Prater is no fool. He knows how to kiss the BOD's rear and keep his $485,000 yr salary plus expen$e$.

If the line pilots don't demand change and effect that change, maybe ALPA can lease back the rest of the 8th floor. To give up Prater's office would be a real shame. It's closer to the Hill than Herndon and there are some great restaurants and cocktail lounges right around the corner. Just check expenses accounts and thanks line guys for the martini lunches with fresh lobster salad !! Keep the dues money coming...the Old Ebbitt Grill needs your business.

Just my thoughts on a bright sunny Saturday.

Have a great day Mates

People have won judgements before for EXACTLY this type of thing.

Not saying he would do it, nor defending his "rep". It makes no difference what his misrepresenatations were, but using his facial picture in this manner has gotten people sued before.

If there were no potential jeopardy in doing this, by the same token then, I could find a picture of you and superimpose it on [edit; removed the not family friendly comments]

That would be out of malice. TM lied and that can be proven...using pictures to illustrate that would not be the same as superimposing your buddies head on something for giggles.

A good illustration of this is the Steve Bartman incident. This poor guy was photoshopped on everything, including Sadaam Hussein and lighting the Hindenburg on fire. He did something in public, on National Television, in front of 39,000 Cubs fans...and they are free to opine.

Likewise...one of the 53,000 ALPA members who received the article containing actual lies by TM is not going to get sued for putting his head on Washington, Chuck Yaeger, or any other hero/villain.
