You guys already get a break on converting your military time and now you want credit on a 4 ship formation that you lead?

I'd say military pilots get a "break" on time... for a pretty darn good reason! Not to mention that EVERY airline in this country owes it's ability to exist to these men and women.

Are you willing to devote every once of your energy to learning the art of flying an airplane...Are you willing to spend 10 years gaining invaluable experience and continuously perfecting your trade... Are you willing to do all of that.... AND ALSO WILLING TO DIE FOR OTHERS WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE "BREAKS" MILITARY PILOTS GET???

I don't disagree with converting your time.I have an issue when you want to throw other things in the mix on top of that.
I appreciate everyones service to our country and will always be appreciative.

Aside from the military v civilian comments, I've seen companies take single pilot cargo TPIC (BE99, etc) as TPIC. It checks the box and allows you to continue to the interview. This is where it becomes very subjective. As you can see by the comments in this thread, we all have a bias toward our own background. One hopes that if sitting across from someone of a different background, he or she can overlook that bias and allow you to shine.

I don't get credit for flying in and out of Afghanistan doing heavy lift for the military because my company says we don't fly into a war zone.

The .2 conversion for military flying is because military time is from takeoff to landing and doesn't account for taxi out and in.

Maybe I can get kudos for having a relative that was the first female to fly the B-2 and her husband also flew the B-2 and is now at FDX or the other relative that reitred from the Air Force flying the C-141 out of CHS then retired from FDX as a DC-10 CA and his son flew the AWACs out of OKC and is now at FDX. And the relative who owned a real estate company in MEM years ago that held FDX account for buying and selling homes.

Whether you disagree or not, the hiring track record at most major airlines would suggest that single seat tactical jet time is not a hinderance to employment.
Like others here, I've done both. Nearing the end of the second career, I have far more TIME in the left seat of a widebody transport. I have far more EXPERIENCE in a single seat jet. Flight time comes in big chunks in a transport, but experience comes in drips and drabs. The reverse is true in a fighter.
With regard to getting hired at FedEx, however, the whole discussion is moot. FedEx has put the initial screening process in the hands of a guy who has done neither, and who seems to have little to no grasp of what makes a good line pilot. Ask any instructor or check airman who attended the brief. Apparently, going to the "right" college is more important than flight time OR experience.
