Easy to sign up. The variability of the flight schedule is a factor, as well as having the ability to plan your return trip home from wherever you end up.

It usually never involves JFK. Although Kennedy Steve the controller is very good for comic relief.

Kennedy is one of 5000 domestic airports we could frequent… then throw in many more international destinations. Thankfully, JFK is usually a once a year thing… or every two.

That being said… the shear volume of random possibilities of airport pairings keeps us frosty and flexible…

“Variety with expectations” are how I’d expect to describe it. When you fly into IAH or LAX, you’re expected to know how the airport operates. Right now!

Dillingham, AK to Newark, NJ. Ocean Reef, FL to Barbados. BFI to SEA. TEX to SAF. ATR to TUS. PHNL to KSLC. MMSD to KORD. PIA to DSM. MSP to BIL. MHT to FLO. T82 to DFW.

It’s a little bit of everything… and sometimes more.

This is some of the realest flying possible without weapon systems onboard.

Variability of schedule, especially these days, is a challenge.

I’ll take Falcon’s word for it on ease of sign up. I’ve never tried and have no idea how it works.

That seems like a great perk atleast one way if you could find the right flight for the family. That would be a great way to travel

One thing to consider about our benefits at NetJets is we are lacking in LOM and LTD in my opinion . NetJets does not offer a LOM plan. The union does and it is a term contract. Currently I pay $335/month for $100,000 a year but it is tax free. However, it could end at the end of the contract and that money you paid in wouldn't matter anymore. However, the union does not see that happening but it is no guarantee. The other issue is our disability pays out at 60% but when you go out on long term after 6 months, it is capped at $60,000 a year until the end of year 3 when you are terminated. If you have the union Harvey Watt LOM, then that kicks in. With a plan like Delta, you make 50% of the highest 12 months in a 3 year period. That would be for me $110,000 a year until I turn 65. I advise looking into a supplemental plan for our LTD to see how much that would cost monthly and add that the LOM and you will see we do pay quite a month for these benefits that a Legacy carrier doesn't. This helps offset the monthly premium a Legacy carrier has to pay and makes them very close. Now, if you don't value LOM and LTD, then this is a moot point. But remember, on average 60% of all airline pilots will lose their medical from 60-65 according to a very bright FO in our Phenom that wrote his master thesis on the aging 135 pilot population.

I would also add at Delta you would get double the B fund match on your disability payment in your 401K before you put anything in. That is another $38,000. At NetJets, we get a match only. No B fund.

One difference on the LOM is that it won't stop at 65, depending how old you are when go out. It'll be your normal SS retirement age, or X number of years based on the age when you lose your medical.

I lost my medical in 2017 at age 60 and 5 months. I was terminated from NJA after 3 years, during which I kept full benefits. The Union plan kicked in and will pay me until age 68 and 5 months. Back then I was capped at $84K/yr tax free and paid $301/month. The tax free only happens if you do not deduct the premiums on your taxes.

As for Airline vs NetJets flying, I have seen plenty of both. 13 years at USAirways, 2 years in Regional purgatory at Mesa, then NetJets from 2005-2017. I declined recall to USAirways because I enjoyed NetJets so much more. Most of what I thought was better has already been covered. Also most of the worst part. I really enjoyed the wide variety of challenging airports we flew to.

What are the odds of making 150k your first year? If not year 1 is it possible for year 2?

First year is possible, but not very likely considering you'll spend the first 3-4 months in training. After that you can fly an 8/6 schedule making just shy of $80,000. Add about 10% for various overtime/holiday/night overrides. On the 8/6 you can probably average 30 hours per tour, so FDP will be 20 hours at $150/hr. Figure 16 tours the first year and your compensation becomes:

Base = $80,000
Overrides = $8,000
FDP = $48,000 (16 tours x 20 hours/tour x $150)
Total first year = $136,000

NOTE: This is based on the current level of activity and NO extra days.

By the second year you can fly an additional 6-7 tours with the associated FDP, thus making $150,000 a distinct possibility.
