Well, define growth. How are more airframes with fewer pilots needed to fly them, defined as good growth for the pilot group? Most events that have the masses fearing airline travel (9/11, H1N1, COVID, etc) makes an uptick in private air travel. Who wouldn't love flying in a private jet instead of airline first class? This will settle back as it always does. Some people will spend the money to fly private, some will revert once things normalize. Glad to see anyone and everyone growing whatever they can grow though.
Anyway, YOU are wrong about Berkshire going on the hook for billions in new airframes. After the lessons learned around the last economic meltdown, Netjets structured all their purchase deals such as the OEMs don’t get paid until delivery. NJ won’t take a jet until it is sold. Orders can be cancelled or changed easily. Bombardier was desperate to sell jets. Of course they agreed and it turned out well for all parties.

Pilots retirement numbers are increasing finally. Hiring has begun again.
The pandemic was a period of terrific business and growth. I’d not really like to repeat it again but seeing as NetJets came out of the pandemic with ZERO tax dollars received to sustain operations and we actually added hundreds of new accounts… I’d say that’s a win.
Has your airline grown during the pandemic? Offered extra flying? Premium pay? Or was it all PPE money coming in to simply sustain operations at a fraction of the volume anyone would define “normal”?

Given your preoccupation with all things Netjets, may I suggest a hobby? Perhaps a significant other? Dog? Cat? Lizard? It pains me to see a fellow human suffer this much....

I would ask where you have been the last year. Airline travel basically ground to a halt. Did you happen to look at TSA travel numbers at all in 2020? Funny you bring up socialism, whenever uncle Warren has to step in and help, is that socialism? The 18 billion dollars he had to invest in NJA so they could buy airplanes in 2012? Socialism? These loans will be paid back. Lets not pretend that NJA hasn't received loans and help that it had to pay back to BH...
Also, you are absolutely not seeing record growth. You are hiring which is great, but don't pretend it is record growth. You guys aren't adding jets to the fleet to increase fleet size at a greater rate than anticipated, and you aren't increasing the pilot group size. In fact, the last time NJA saw "record growth" they furloughed after.
If you think the blanket of BH hasn't saved NJA's butt a time or three, you are living in a bubble.

hmmm so now you’re comparing an individual putting his own money, into his own business and that person profiting from their loan, to their own business, as socialism ? I think that’s a bit different than using civilians tax dollars

I love how MinRest knows everything about NJ but didn’t get there until 2015. A whole lot happened well before his arrival to get to the 2015 contract which I was not a fan of, but that contract has led us to IBB 2020. Again, a whole has happened even since 2015.
But hey, taxpayer money for him to sit at home is considered airline financial success. We all measure growth and financial stability differently. I’ll take the NJA growth and financial success over a company’s success 100% dependent on taxpayer bailouts.

MinRest Is also clueless about the loans to the airlines during the bailouts. The majority of assistance came in the form of grants. That means it won’t be paid back. But hey, what’s another $25 billion in government debt to pay pilots to sit at home?
