That's because you're a First Officer. You only fly with captains. Of course they don't feel this way...they're not going anywhere. I'd say it's safe to say you're completely out of touch with how most FO's there feel. This board is pretty spot on.

Mother I love you , but being an FO , talking on the road , and in recurrent, ... I don't see myself as out of touch with my peer group , those who are unhappy are voting with their feet, some are hanging in, I have yet to see or hear the virulent hatred spewed on these boards , of course your MMV , and people in person, and on the keyboards are often 2 different people but still ....anyway it seems that both SWA , and UPS like our people and that bodes well for the group as a whole , especially those moving on.

You’re an FO?!?!?! Holy crap I thought you were a captain. I’d have to second the out of touchness. Then again it depends on fleet. Most of the captains I flew with resigned themselves to the fact that they got screwed by 9/11 and NetJets hired them when nobody else would. It is what it is. Lots had very realistic views of their situation. Some were militant, and some were just bat poop crazy. I can’t count on one hand the times I met an FO who loved it and had no intention of leaving.

I'm not disagreeing on what your experience was like at NetJets, it's a beat down of a job. For some NetJets is where they want to be and for others they are stuck. It's not that I don't want to leave NetJets, trust me I'm trying. As an eleven year f/o that is 40 with my first kid 5 years from college, I don't have much margin to take the pay cut. I'm glad it worked out for you going to Alaska/Virgin, (there are alot of good people there and when the SLI and CBA get ironed out you will be in an ever better spot) but that same move won't work for me.

At one time I made fun of the regional lifers, maybe karma is starting to pay me back.

It works for me and mine , we are a 2 pilot family , and the 7&7 &, health care , make this palatable for us , we have found a sweet balance, during the furlough I was flying 747 long haul which I loved but was tough on the familia , Gods grace ,at the present time , this place is working for us . I totally and completely respect why people want to leave , there are opportunities in abundance out there : )

It wasn't the only statement of the week that we found.....curious.

I think it betrays an inside-the-beltway(Bridgeway) mentality that everything is peachy-keen and neato-terrific and why don't you whiny pilots just shut up, fly, and realize how wonderful you have it.

If you want another indication of the mindset promoted by management to other employees inside the CMH ivory tower, go read the recent NJ reviews on Glassdoor. There is a money quote from an IT employee that will stick out.

Why is it the same 10 guys doing all the trash talking??? Are the other ~2,600 pilots actually happy to be there?

Confused outsider looking in...
