Be patient everyone... Some of the fo's chomping at the bit for upgrade have only been here about a year. If you think that's stagnation talk to some of the street ca's that have been at 3 or 4 other airlines before here.

Agreed! The young low timers complaining about DEC's have little understanding of how much time and work many of these people have put into this buisness. A lot of the DEC's have very strong back grounds with a significant amount of experience to share. Just because you have 1500 hrs doesn't mean you are anywhere near READY for upgrade.

Did Silver really have a Saab crew land at the wrong airport or is this just another BS rumor?

True. Some of the DEC are great people who were unlucky at their previous airline(s). However some had no business getting hired into the left seat. I don't care how many hours of flight instructing you had at Big Aviation University...also applies if you don't know that you set 29.92 at FL180.

Yes we did have a guy land at the wrong airport , DEC hired guy out of IOE , and the guy had nearly 9,000 hours in a Saab.....

Proves the post earlier written, total time does not add up to the sole reason a guy should upgrade . I have flown with guys that had thousands that should not upgrade anytime soon , and then again I have flown with guys that have maybe 1000 hours that were awesome aviators and great thinkers .....

It's not just a staffing bid and 1500 hours for some folks .....

Also proves that a guy with 9,000 hrs has had a lot of opportunities to make a mistake; matter of fact - 9 times the opportunity than the guy with 1,000 hrs

You do realize that outside of this country, you do not always set it at 180, right?

Agreed! Total time should not be the sole determining factor on if someone is allowed to upgrade. The new ATP rule addresses this somewhat by requiring 1000 hours Part 121 to slide over into the left seat. I'm not sure how this will be handled come August though. Not much talk about the guys who won't meet this requirement.

I have as well. I fly with some younger guys who really have a good head on there shoulders.

Then you have our boy who landed at he wrong airport. If you new him you wouldn't be surprised at all. Again total time isn't the only thing that makes a solid aviator.

But landing at the wrong airport, especially in the conditions in which he did, is completely unacceptable and a pure lack of professionalism and safety.

Are you serious! I know you don't set 9's and 2's at FL180 in every country. However, what ever happen to knowing what ********ing country you where flying in. Why do pilots always seem to have an excuse?
