I do see on the Silver website that the pilot hiring window is open again as of today.

What happened to all the excitement on this thread when you guys started your first airline job?
but the luster of flying an airplane for compensation has worn off. That feeling would have happened after 6 months at any airline not just here.

Haha, that was a long time ago!!
This thread was started almost 16 months ago! Amazing that all of the enjoyment of a job can be sucked out of the young and eager in such a short period of time. This doesn't even take into account the time deducted for people to have completed the initial training and IOE. Maybe airline flying really is THAT bad! |

Yes, the day in, day out routine that flying jobs really are does weed out the riff-raff. :p In the 60s, TW and UAL actually recruited non-pilots from college who tested and wanted to be airline pilots. Out of the 50-some odd guys that started, almost none finished the first 5 years. Flying looks great, "my passion" nonsense, but actually flying over a career isn't any of that--it's work. Challenging, rewarding, yes. It's the difference between puppy love (lust?) and the 50th wedding anniversary. GF |

GF I guess I was right from the start to stay away from airline flying then if it is just work. I'm lucky that I made it to that 25 year anniversary and look forward to more in the future. Cruz - and what were/are your expectations? |
Silver Airways
I walked in with zero expectations in fact I figured that I'd be furloughed by now so nothing really surprises me. The shocker is friends and family telling you how bad it is and you not heeding their advice and having to figure it out own your own. At the end of it all life could be much worse and I'm lucky to have the crew members, friends, and family I do to help me through the good and bad times others mileage may vary.

Bro... bro... He's being facetious ;) The point he's trying to make is that there were two guys in the cockpit that night.
