Even worse than Trans states?

Exactly what I was about to type...

Coming from a mainly CFI background, and at TSA training for the E145, and now Silver for the SF340... TSA's ground training was more organized, and that's just funny to think about... However... That's about where the line stops...

This whole Silver is the "worst" airline thing is a very very opinionated answer. Some despise it, some love it, some are just along for the ride and don't think one way or the other (me specifically). Stay off the radar, do your job, speak when you're spoken to, and just be lucky you have a job to begin with...

That's a very bad attitude to have. You're a professional. You shouldn't go somewhere because its the first option, or you have to. You should go there because it is a good career decision!

This type of attitude is a primary factor in why this industry has fallen so far and will never recover. Might as well just say... I wanna fly airplanes cause they are cool and I will do it for free yaaahhhh!

/face palm

And that my friend is why this profession is so crappy. I know the economy sucks right now and times are tough all around however, we all busted our butts to get our ratings, degrees, ground school, sims, etc. Some of us have to commute or drive a few hours to work, away from our families days or the way MM makes the lines weeks at a time. So please don't give that "be happy to have a job" line. We have all sacrificed to be airline pilots, is it too much to ask to make this place at least better? Make better lines? Not deny our moving expenses? Not deny a legal pairing swap? Not try to make us DH for 18 hours for training? Not deny our ground repo pay because the CP thinks that you're milking it? Not deny upgrade because of a stupid technicality? Then allowing another pilot to change his staffing bid, but not helping out the other pilot. Not deny a hotel during a 4 hour sit to mitigate fatigue? Not screw somebody out of a vacation because of a MM screw up then cover up? Not listening to crews that will and have disqualified for not flying? Then blaming the crew for it.

EatMyPropwash, I believe you're still in training correct?

Welcome to Tarnished Airways, you know, the cheap silver that turns color and leaves a ring of green crap around your neck, yeah that one!

So you'd rather not pay your bills, let everything get repo'd, and still be sitting on the sidewalk waiting for the right "career decision" to happen? I think not, Mike.

I've learned my lesson from speaking up. That's all that matters. Show up, do what you're paid to do, and move on.

No, I'd rather have some self worth and work a non aviation job and pay my bills instead of walking over others backs to better myself. I also demand to be paid what I am worth and I will not sit back and say "at least I have a job" when the money starts going away. Buy you're free to think whatever you want Kendrick.

The sad thing is that you'll encounter everything listed on a single pairing!

Ok, so everyone is kinda being a little abusive here. You are right. We are happy to have jobs. When I came here it was only weeks after Eagle offered me a job one day and filed for bankruptcy the next(not kidding. Literally the following day.). I had been looking to fly something with more than 4 seats for years. Things have changed. I could get work at ANY of the regionals easily and many other 135 or cargo places just like everyone else here. Qualified pilots are no longer a dime a dozen in only a couple years time. The issues stated above are all frustrating. And they are all true. Unless you have lived them they don't mean much to you but they will. I am a do my job and go home kinda guy, but I have stayed here for an upgrade and since they will no longer run a staffing bid the way the contract says they should I have no idea how long that will be. Also our seniority list is shrinking because people quit faster than they can find qualified replacements. I wish there were a few dozen more people like you that would come work here so silver could hold some upgrade classes. Don't let the people on here get to you. APC is far and away without any doubt the most douchebaggish forum in existence. People here are incredibly impolite and will act as if they know all in aviation and you are a child that knows nothing. Ignore it. If they were as smart as they think they are why are they still flying a Saab? Not everyone is this way of course but just don't let it get to you. I say this too knowing half the people here personally. That being said, you want to see what a couple years in this business does to you go read Cruz's posts from when he first got hired and then read his latest ones. The progression is quite entertaining.(ps enjoy the Q.) Good luck at silver and welcome. Tell all your friends to come here so I can upgrade!
