The examiner was your "pilot monitoring" and could be used to do pretty much anything you asked. Not a hard sim ride in my opinion. Just show that you know how to control an aircraft and fly an ils.

Don't work for free! I don't care what email you get from union(and I am one of the few union supporters). Do NOT take that online course. We work as it is for less than the guy that made me my chalupa today. He wouldn't serve up a volcano taco on his off time. I don't do company crap for free either. Silver university? Good luck. Dequal away. I could use some time off.
