How is the training?

They'd be stupid not to be hiring. Classes have been at 10 - 15 people these last couple of months. However the December class has a lot fewer students. Probably because of the holidays.


Training is well put together, if you pay attention and study in the evenings you'll do well.
4 - 6 weeks of ground and 2 - 4 weeks of sims. Both are in South Florida. If you have any specific questions about training feel free to PM me, or just post here.

I sent in a resume a couple weeks ago and never heard anything other than a form letter email acknowledgement. Depending on your browser format there was another person a page back who experienced likewise. Now whether or not my resume is actually competitive or not... ;)

In any event, if they are just backed up, busy or otherwise I will continue trying to be patient to hear something back from Silver...

Meanwhile, I have three interviews in the next week... sooo... hopefully they don't take too long to respond :)

Anybody done the Skype interview lately? With only doing day trips, what does a typical schedule look like? Thx

Don't know about the Skype interview. Lines are currently 11 - 15 days off, there's one with 18 days off in MCO. Lines are built from the high 60s in block to the low 80s. Most are in the low 70s.

You'll be working 2 - 5 days in a row with 2 - 4 days off in between.

Thanks for the info. A few more questions, what's the longest flight in the system, what's the average flight, how many legs a day on average? Is there a rough show time for am/pm flying? I would assume you would need to live fairly close to the airport, having to drive to and from work daily, days on end. Longest go to Orlando to Pensacola, Jacksonville to Nassau, and now I think we've got Lauderdale to Santiago, Cuba. Those are all in the low 2 hour range.
Average is a tough one to pick out, I'd say anywhere from 1 hour to 1.5.
Legs per day depend on your base. I can't speak for many of the FL bases because I'm IAD based. I know that they do somewhere between 3 and 6 per day mostly.

AM is typically 6ish, PM is in the early afternoon, 1pm or 2pm sometimes later.

What's the most current news on which base is junior/senior and how long to hold?

It's all changing at lightspeed right now. It's impossible for me to answer this question.
For FOs, Dulles has typically always been our junior base, Fort Lauderdale is the senior base. However, Dulles is closing and they're preparing to move us and shift us around to the different bases as necessary. They want 27 FOs in FLL and 19 in MCO and in TPA.


What's current reserve time?

Current reserve time varies from base to base. Again, it's difficult to say right now until staffing per base settles down. I'd ask this question again in mid January.

Anything on the base assignments break down in recent classes now that dulles is over with.

They stuck the last class in Dulles. It's silly though, we only have 3 lines and 9 reserve lines in Dulles or something ridiculous. My educated guess is that those reserves in Dulles will be called down to fly FL flights for the month of December.

The new classes in the sim and the ground instruction phase are never going to see DC. Where they go from there is anyones guess.

With iad winding down, how's everything looking? I guess it's a mixed bag with no overnights, but how do you guys like it? Any current fo want to give me the low down on if your happy etc? I'm trying to set up the Skype interview and hopefully get an offer.
