Great Lakes' Part 135 plan

They won't be bypassing the ATP rule because they will still need their ATP before they ever set foot in a P121 cockpit. They are bridging that gap with time as a P135 FO rather than being a CFI right up to 1500 hrs - and probably coming out with a better idea of what it takes to operate in that industry too. This has become no different than a 300 CFI getting any other P135 job to build time.

That SEC filing just says they are going to be late with their SEC forms and it does not mean they are bankrupt. I find it interesting the same filing mentions their Part 135 ticket as an existing approval, which is the first solid evidence I have seen they actually got it.

Until the Company is able to re-staff qualified pilots, in sufficient quantity, it is expected that the Company will not have sufficient forecasted liquidity to service our existing debt obligations which raises substantial doubt on the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern.

Sounds like me. I hate instructing, and am looking at Great Mistakes as a way to build time fast so that I can move on to a better regional. Am I crazy for considering this? I don't care what the pay is, it's what I'm making right now as a CFI anyway....

"Oh, I'll take that $16/hr regional job. I don't care what the pay is, I just want to build my time for that E170 job."

We've all been guilty of it at one point, but going to GLA is the lowest of lows. That place deserves to go out of business for their sleazy treatment of pilots. There is no excuse paying an FO $16/hr or a capt $27/hr.

Have some respect for yourself and the industry. By signing a training contract and working for absolute crap pay under abusive conditions you are devaluing your worth and condoning these working conditions. Also keep in mind companies like GLA have very high checkride failure rates and will hang you out to dry in any encounter with the FAA. It's a risky environment in which to fly.
Be patient and let a good job come to you.

Well this is a fairly powerful statement:
Until the Company is able to re-staff qualified pilots, in sufficient quantity, it is expected that the Company will not have sufficient forecasted liquidity to service our existing debt obligations which raises substantial doubt on the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern.

I'm with you on that. They need to go away. The sooner flying is brought back to mainline carriers and/or regional airline pay doubles the better off we'll be.
