The 14 day “vacation type” program means you can get up to 14 of your normal regular days off guaranteed. You do not get any vacation at all. But those 14 days a year you are guaranteed off.. choose wisely
Remember, you also go to training on your days off. If your recurrent training is 5 days, you only get 5 days off for the rest of the month.

It’s one thing to change a policy on hotel points it another to change the culture. They could offer double points it won’t make the job any better if it’s a cultural problem.
People aren’t born disgruntled. Just like people aren’t born afraid of dogs. An event or experience makes them that way.
Let’s make this business safer and better. They can’t fly without us.
We have two votes left and right foot. We need to learn to vote with our feet either stand firm for what’s right or keep walking.

It’s funny and sad that everyone here is stuck on hotel points. Like that’s the worst thing to be concerned when looking for a job. That’s just the tip of the sword. Look what’s beyond the point. The tip of the spear only causes surface wounds it’s what’s behind the tip that really causes the wound.
This business will only change when pilot regain some dignity. Employers claim well it’s just good business sense. Well when the shoe is on the other foot it will become better for all of us.
Maybe I am just another disgruntled pilot who wouldn’t be happy no matter wherever I end up. That line is pretty telling.
Wonder if we were all born disgruntled?

I’ve never seen so much whining about hotel points. Get a job that allows you to keep your points and move on with life.

Some companies actually lie to get you in the door and maybe sign a contract to receive a new type rating. Or they promise you certain days off, certain pay raises etc etc. Now since we aren’t all lawyers like you are, guys/gals may sign said agreements not fully understanding what they are getting in to.
Since certain companies are known to lie about the job there are some pointers that would indicate it may not be a place conducive to long term employment. One of those is whether or not they would take the little benefits that really mean nothing to them financially. For example, the Hotel points. This may not mean much to you since you are changing careers, but can still fall back on your salary as a lawyer and take a job that won’t pay as much, or moreover be able to reject a job that you see a bad contract. Since most of us don’t have that luxury we ask some simple questions on a thread like this and if it sounds good, then get into some deeper questions about the company. So when you say things to a professional pilot like we are “whining” and just “get a job”, it’s a little offensive since you aren’t in the same position as 99% of the guys/gals asking those questions. Maybe down the road you will understand and be more constructive with your comments and not be so dismissive of people who have been there and done that. Good Luck instructing and landing that first job, and I mean that sincerely.

Well, I will explain to you since you are still instructing and new to this. This could actually help you with a decision down the road if you decide to work at a 135.

No hotel benefits is just one data point.
What about no pay on training days? Most people agree that if one is doing something required by an employer to keep one’s job that is directed by the employer, that’s “work.” That’s compensable.
Employers that refuse to pay for “work” are cutting corners and short-changing their employees. Compete fairly, win in the market, and make enough (with your employees’ help) to pay your workers what they’ve earned.
Employers that can’t do that should be out of the market, that’s capitalism. Pilots shouldn’t help marginal competitors stick around longer than competition would permit by absorbing costs properly borne by that weak competitor...but there are always those willing to work for nothing, so it happens....
I don’t know anything about this company and am very happy elsewhere with a growing employer that values its people, so l have no skin in this game. But these markers cut across all industries. It’s just economics.

Management is ambivalent towards pilots; disregarding industry standards to improve QOL, yet begs them to work there. Most of the planes they fly are old, tired and carry bottom dollar charter customers to the Las Vegas strip.
I find it funny that managers posting on here act shocked at cirrus's poor reputation amongst pilots. As if they don't already know.
