The collaboration is intended to offer outlined paths under which UPS Airlines' Intern Program participants can gain Part 135 flying experience at Ameriflight and accumulate the flight experience needed to proceed to UPS Airlines, a Part 121 certificated air carrier.

Under the program, UPS will actively mentor participating Ameriflight pilots. These pilots will be encouraged to participate in UPS functions and learn from UPS Airlines' flight-qualified management team and Chief Pilots.

The Gateway Program is open to individuals who have successfully completed the UPS Airlines' Intern Program and have been identified by UPS as eligible for the UPS/Ameriflight Gateway Program. The agreement affords the opportunity for UPS interns to potentially qualify for employment with Ameriflight and UPS Airlines, respectively, upon completion of outlined experience and training requirements. Ameriflight and UPS may offer employment to eligible pilots subject to their hiring needs, hiring standards and the program requirements.
As was mentioned in the dedicated thread, this is currently only for pilots starting out in the UPS intern program. Meaning that UPS vets them before they ever even arrive at AMF. As it stands, current AMF (and direct hire AMF) pilots will not benefit from it. Our hope is that it may eventually lead to more of a flow type program to UPS.

I haven't heard any particulars of how much time or type of experience these candidates will need at AMF before UPS brings them back. I'm sure it will involve time in a type rated aircraft (metro, 1900 or E120.)

Default Burbank hub...

Freight Dog,

Is there a way to select the Burbank hub or SOCal as a new hire entry level Captain on the 99/1900? I'm currently flying single pilot as a 135(b) 400 series Cessna as a VFR Captain for the summer months. I am thinking of staying or moving on to turbine equipment when I hit FAR 135(c) minimums. I would really like to fly the 1900, and the bonus is really enticing. Do you need to fly the 99 first and then move into the 1900? I'm just trying to think ahead. Thanks for your time.

Hi, there!

Yes. We lock down the base before you sign your offer letter. We won't ever change your base after that unless agreed upon by us both.
Burbank or Ontario (our other CA base) is definitely an option as a new hire.
No, you do not need to fly the 99 first to fly the 1900. Based on your times, you may be qualified to jump to the 1900.
If you don't mind, what are your times? TT, ME, XC, Night, PIC, Instrument, Turbine? Feel free to comment back here or PM.

Thank you!

As a pilot with about 7 years out of professional flying, but an ex Metro 3+Merlin IV captain (also caravan, and CESSNA 404) from Superior Aviation back in the late 90's and 2000's, what type of recent experience are you looking for? Having more than 6,000 hrs and an ATP, I know I meet the paper minimums.
Have been looking at spending some $$ National Flight sim in mht (they also do your Wiggins evaluation rides) to get current and marketable....is is a good option or do you have a set minimum number of hours in the last year to be hired?
Still have any home based captain postions open?

Hi, ZippyNH!

Glad to hear you've flown a Metro! Is that what you're interested in with us?
We would only need you to get IFR Current. So a few IFR flights in a sim would be great! The sim in MHT would be perfect.
We do not have any Home Based Captain positions open, but we still do them on a case by case basis.
I'm sure you already know, but I figured I'd put our SA227 Captain competitive time qualifications: 2,500 TT, 250 ME, 500 XC (defined as point to point), 100 night, 1,000 PIC, 100 instrument, 200 Turbine, 121 or 135 experience

I mentioned you to our lead recruiter and he'd like to chat if you're interested. Feel free to PM me with your full flight hours (TT, ME, XC (point to point), Night, PIC, Instrument, Turbine) if you are!

Cheers,

Jamie Smith

Curious as to why the UPS Gateway Program hasn't been formally announced to the pilot group. Nothing on the pilot portal and no company memos. Hmmm...

Hi, there!

You are correct. The UPS Gateway Program was not formally announced via the portal or a company memo.
However, it was announced and thoroughly discussed (via explanation and pilot questions) in both the Pilot Call and the All Employee Call.
We do not wish to leave anyone in the dark.
We'd be happy to answer any questions from our team on the program!

The major pros for our current employees:
» Additional flight crew personnel will allow us to reach our goal of a 4 on, 3 off schedule.
» The program tremendously helps the dialogue/development of a true flow through that can directly benefit all of our pilots.
