For me, AMF was a great time and confidence builder in the airplane. I became a 99 capt with just over 300 hrs in airplanes (flew different category aircraft before).
Most leave AMF for ULCC or ACMI on the cargo side, but a legacy isn’t unheard of. Just had a guy go from AMF straight to Delta this year, but he was an instructor, check airman, and had a letter of recommendation.

Commuting is not really possible, at least on their scheduled runs (I do not know how they work the charter side of things, but assuming as an FO, you will not be "home based"). You will need to live in base, or at least have a place to stay. Sure, you could attempt to go "home" on Saturday/Sunday, but you'll need to be back Monday. Different bases have different schedules but most runs are Mon-Fri with some Mon-Sat so there just is not enough time to make commuting home for the weekend viable.

So for someone who is living in Seattle they would realistically need to move to Spokane in order to work for Ameriflight?

Depends on what they have open and which routes need to be filled. You need to ask their recruiters or go to their job listings and poke around every other day or so. But yes, you really need to live wherever you are based.
I know for sure they have one person in BLI that comes open from time to time. They used to have pilots at BFI too, tho I am unsure if that is still staffed. I still see a 99 sitting on the ramp in SEA, tho I do not know where it is based.

Ok thanks great to know there's a possibility for staying in the Seattle area.

BFI used to be the Ameriflight base and would be moved to Spokane during peak season due to the enormous amount of cargo just for Seattle area taking up all of the ramp space. During that time the BFI-BLI run still flew out of BFI. Now the Spokane is the Ameriflight base I would imagine the aircraft seen at BFI is either that BFI-BLI run or a schedule from the PDX base.

I haven’t worked there in over a decade, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

There's still a couple 99s and 1900s operating out of BFI, BLI is a 1900 run out of BFI. GEG is mainly a Brasilia base with a single 1900 I think.

The 99 at SEA is I believe a DHL run operating SEA-GEG M-F with potential to be called to fly Sat out of BFI.

All the bases up there get covered by PDX reserve if anything happens.

Yea, I haven't been there in a decade either and I can't imagine why anyone would go to AMF in 2023. It was a horrible place back then lol...

Well maybe you can help me. I'll be moving to the north east corner of the Seattle area and looking for a flying job. Any suggestions with my time below?

1600 Total time
1500 PIC
200 PIC Turbine (Single Engine)
1000 Tailwheel
500 Float
16 MEL
500 VFR Part 135 experience
(Hopefully 135 IFR minimums soon)

What is your end goal? Lots of right seat jet jobs for somebody like you, or work on getting ATP mins and go to a regional.

Other than seaplanes I'd rather go cargo over regional. I have no real IFR experience and would like to land a PIC IFR job if possible or work that direction for now. That's what seemed attractive about Ameriflight.

No end goal yet.
