Our initial training program is currently on hold. We have decided not to do inital training in the aircraft. We ARE doing recurrent check rides in the aircraft to keep our pilots current.
We are working with Flight Safety to get their E120 sim in Paris certified for FAA training. Once it is certified, we plan to start up our initial/transition training program again. And for clarification, the 120 sim in ATL is not "going away". It is already gone. |

Thanks for that update! Fond memories of the Waffle House between the hotel and the sim at 4am for me.

Do you know if they will be need pilots for the upcoming season? I am close to the IFR minimum for the Beech 99. I understand that the company has to get the people that are in the program first dibs due to contract with United and UPS for the program. I am in touch with one of the recuiters that is with the company. I am looking at the DFW as an opprounity to fly the 99s if they are based out of there.
Thanks for any updates. |

Thanks for any updates. We always need captains. The only "season" that applies is our Peak Season (winter) but this fits into our full time operation. We don't plan to hire for part time or only a few months. Our preferred profile is for at least a year. The majority of our pilots come to AMF to gain experience and hours and to further their flying career. We do have BE99s based in DFW, along with almost all of our operating bases. Our recruiters should be able to provide you with the guidance you need moving forward to join our team. Good luck! |

The priority for UPS and Aviate participants only applies to our First Officer positions. If you meet the qualifications for an IFR part 135 captain, you are welcome to apply and have a good chance of being hired.

cutbacks
not immune to trends, primarily due to ups and dhl efforts to squeeze every penny of profit and lackluster charter volume, amf lost some runs, closed a few bases over the last year and is cutting costs where they can. load pay for charter pilots is gone -- a not-insignificant incentive. new hire home-based positions, few that there are, will be 3/1 instead of 2/2. for now, no pilot layoffs and still hiring, albeit getting more competitive.

Commuting
Is it feasible to commute with Ameriflight? Can't live in base with custody of a HS junior. Thanks

Unless you work charter, but that would involve being away from home for 2-3 weeks at a time. Honestly even living in a base, doing out and back trips, there is a huge risk of "get home idis" cause you have something to do when you should stay parked.... getting the plane fixed ot waiting for wx...but even then could you leave at 6 am and return at 9pm, not counting the drive to and from the airport? IMHO wait a few more years.... |
