Cool The Plan

I am going to Ameriflight. I will obstenstibly be applying end of summer@135 mins with higher ME time.
What is upgrade time at right now? What is an outstation? What factors affect upgrade? Am I overly concerned with upgrade?

I am planning on staying~3 years my main goal being to get 1000PIC tubine and get an online college degree on the daily layover, then go to brown or purple.
The floor is open for comments or suggestions,
Thank you gentlemen.

Don't know what the end of the summer is going to be like, but if the market is the way it is now don't expect to get on with Ameriflight unless you already have the 1000 PIC.

It's good to have plans, but they don't always work out...It's hard to say what the summer will bring. Upgrade times depend alot on how flexible you are. If you can move around you can uprade rather quickly depending on your quals at the time. Ameriflight has a lot to choose from right now so you need to have some time under your belt. Brown and Purple are a whole other story that I can't say too much about myself. I know that there are a lot of pilots who whould like to fly for them. All I can say is chase the dream and stay flexible. Ameriflight is a good company to work for and build good flight time.

Just as Earl81 said, it's all about flexibility and a little luck. Some bases, a pilot may get a quick transition into bigger equipment or if one is flexible be able to move around for the right equipment.
An outstation is where a pilot is not "based" at the base they fly into at night, rather they spend the day at home and stay at a crew layover at night.

Hey Freightdog,

How hard is it to get based in Cinci? (I am assuming a PA31 initially)

What upgrade options are there down the road at this location?

Do they/you fly out of CVG or LUK?

Thanks

There is no pistons in CVG, only turbines and large ones at that, no 99s. There's Metros and Brasilias. We just hired for the Brasilia FOs out of CVG and the metro pilots are in training. You need to have some time under your belt since you would be put into a typed aircraft as a captain in the metro.

You probably don't care what I think, but if you were interviewing with me, or most any other pilot to work at any company, and any amount of that attitude came through you'd be asked to not let the door hit you on the way out and your resume would be promptly filed in the circular file.

Another one? I'm not surprised. Yep, we all entered this industry planning on failing at it. You just don't get it...and apparently never will.
