Hey everyone new member here.

I was hired over skype last month and looking at a potential class date of late May or early June after college graduation.

Anyone have any updates on training times or base expectations as a newhire FO?

Any other advice, thoughts, or comments welcome! Thanks!

Hey there!

I've been in training for about a month now. The training has been really great and in depth. The first 2 weeks is all ground school then you move onto the Flows, Sim, and Flight portion, theres 16 units for SICs. That portion of training should take about 4 weeks.

SICs tend to be based on the longer routes. Billings MT has a lot of SICs just because they rack up 7+ flight hours a day.

Let me know if you have any other questions about training!

7h a day is awesome!. How does paychecks look like?. I know what you guys do per gour(duty) etc...but I guess you talked to pilots flying the line and found out if there’s some overtime, etc....

From what I've heard from others, is that the Billings lines are built to 45 hours duty per week, 4 days on 4 days off, all overnights in the outstations so you get the extra (I believe) 35/36$ perdiem for the overnights. Not to mention the cost of living in Billings is probably the cheapest of all the places Cape Air flies to.

That's sweet! Sounds appealing. Only thing I don't like is the contract. I have 900h right now and it seems like it may take forever to honor that commitment

Just doing some quick math;

-6ish weeks to get through training
-about 112 hours a month in Billings - 7 hours a day * 4 days a week times 4 for the month
1500-950(by the time you start)=550
550/112=4.9
You would be looking at just under 5 months on the line or less depending how much overtime you do.

In total 6-7 Months as an FO then go through the upgrade class and fly 1 year as a captain. It a lot of valuable experience, flying a multi, single pilot, icing and not to mention the new Tecnam coming in early 2019.

Are those realistic math? :-) I guess that’s the best case scenario, which looks pretty good honestly.

Your classmate Nick (the Spaniard) tells me training could take more than 6 weeks. More like 8-10weeks?. With all the recurrent guys, etc...

My buddy Christian Tardez is still finishing his, and he started in December 5th I think🤔

Ahhh Nico! He's a great guy!

I would say 6-8 is realistic, there are training blocks available on the weekends for those who want it that will get you ahead of schedule. Especially during the holidays in December/January things were backed up a bit but now they are finishing up and moving along.
